Timothy Phares Beaten with a Board

Timothy Phares, a gay man, was beaten with a 2x4. His attacker said "F***ing fa**ot, I'm going to kill you." It was a brutal assault committed because Phares was gay, his employer found out he was gay, and word got around.

 

Naturally, tons of people think that the beating was unrelated to Phares' sexuality. I've heard waaaay too many people claim that this is ". . .yet another attempt by the lib media to twist a crime into sick propaganda for the gay agenda."

One of the people on the article I linked said "This guy is obviously lieing because A) His injuries look to d**n good for someone who was beaten with a 2x4 and B) It's Monday and MSNBC has got to have another gay story to help change peoples' opinions on the GAY PROBLEM in this country." That comment had over 235 votes up, and 190 down, so it was winning.

The thing is, I know that this isn't propaganda. And how do I know? I live in the area, and have in fact seen this guy working at the local Applebees. I know how the thing went down; I spoke with people who saw it, though I wasn't personally there to witness it. The local news correlates the story well. It is weird beyond belief to actually see this on MSNBC, but it's real, it happened, and this case has NOT been mis-represented by the "lib media".

The only inaccuracy is that the attacker's wife didn't just witness the crime; she called him there specifically to attack Phares.
