xanwallace
Hello, i'm new to mods for oblivion. Ive read the tutorial's on installation however when i download a mod file from any website it doesn't come out as a folder that i can extract files from. Is this because i'm using window's XP? Or maybe because i'm running windows through boot camp on a macbook pro?
bben46
Not sure about the Mac, but Oblivion was designed for XP. Most likely - you are not unzipping the files. All downloaded files are in a compressed file format, Usually either .7z (7-Zip) or .rar (winrar) - NOT a folder! You should create a folder to hold downloaded files, then a subfolder for each downloaded file in that. Then unzip the file inside that folder. 7-zip is what I use and it will unzip almost any compressed file. Available FREE here http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15579 When you have unzipped a mod, then copy the files from there into the Oblivion\data folder. Answer Yes or yes to all when it says it may overwrite files - that's what you want it to do. I also recommend getting OBMM (Oblivion Mod manager) to make it easier to work with mods. It is not a mod, but a program and does not install like a mod. Be sure to read the instructions to install it.
