AureliusofKvatch
Hey all, I am working with custom meshes (among others, Phitt's Resources). Most of them work fine when properly integrated, but a few cause the following: When placed in the render window, they cause the entire render window to become black, from certain angles (i can turn them and then the render window flickers). What I would like to understand, is:What is causing this? How can it be solved? Thanks!
Adventurer1111
Are you using Blender for the custom meshes?
AureliusofKvatch
No I did not. They are resources contained in mods (resource mods like Phitt's) which I installed manually.
symphonymarie
I actually had this problem as well, I believe with Phitt's or something like it. I ended up re-exporting to obj, opening in blender, exporting again as obj, and then exporting from outfit studio as nif. I then converted "ninode" to "bsfadenode". No idea why this fixed it, but it did.
AureliusofKvatch
That sounds like an arduous but worthwhile process... I have no experience with these programs however, do you have some links or tips to point me in the right direction?
symphonymarie
That sounds like an arduous but worthwhile process... I have no experience with these programs however, do you have some links or tips to point me in the right direction?Sure! Blender is kind of it's own animal, but here is a quick troubleshooting guide to see if the issue is something funny or corrupted in the mesh. Program Links:Outfit Studio Nifskope (Ctrl+F NifSkope_2_0_2018-02-22-x64.7z for the download)Blender (Most modders use pre-2.7, I think but I use the latest release because I love novelty. You might want to google a bit and see which you would prefer.)Guide to Skyrim + Blender (2.7+) Link to screengrabs This is just some troubleshooting I usually do if I can't diagnose the source of the weirdness using just Outfit Studio + Nifscope. If this doesn't solve it the issue might be a corrupt mesh, in which case you'll probably want to give importing and exporting from Blender a go. Hopefully this helps! As a side note, Blender has a steep learning curve but once you get the hang of it it's pretty fun. I'd definitely experiment a bit with it! I taught myself by downloading 3D renders of museum objects from Sketchfab and trying to clean them up. I like creating problems and then trying to solve them when I'm learning something, but there are also a lot of great guides out there on the program as it's one of the best open source applications out there!
