Better Assassins

So back when skyrim first came out and I t'was but a console gamer I remember the first time I ever saw a Dark Brotherhood Assassin. Let me set the scene I'm watching my brother travel a mountain pass to get to Winterhold. It's a cold day in the mountains and the boulders to each side make a perfect place for someone to ambush this poor Argonian Dovahkiin. Something isn't quite right with this situation and just when he's at his most vulnerable....a Dunmer in black and red spandex runs out into the road a good fifteen feet away and charges with dual daggers drawn screaming like a madman all the while.

Back when I first saw this I thought it was pretty cool that a Dark Brotherhood Assassin had been sent after the player but more recently I got to thinking. The Dark Brotherhood must have a really bad screening process for their supposed "elite" assassins. Seriously what professional killer in their right mind would charge a heavily armored player with daggers without even having the element of surprise. It's just nonsense.

So here's my request make the Dark Brotherhood members who come after you actually act like assassins. Here's a few ideas to get the ball rolling.

  • Ambush Points.

Place areas where the Dark Brotherhood members will await the player to ambush them. Consider

areas with some kind of cover and a good view of roads. Perhaps they can be invisible until they attack.

Make them use a bow and arrow to try and snipe you from a distance, magic even.

  • Night Attacks.

They wake you while you sleep blade in hand.

  • Incognito.

Place regular looking npc's into towns and villages. Draw no attention to them but after some time

they draw a weapon and attack you with no warning. This would work really well with any mod that

adds random npc's to towns. After all what's one more face in the crowd.

  • Poison.

Now this one would be a bit trickier. Other than having the assassins use poison on their weapons

it would be really cool if they could poison drinks. Let's say they see you in a bar and you're

offered a suspicious drink. If you drink it it does some damage, if not they attack you.

Essentially what I'm asking for is assassin attacks that are unpredictable and unexpected, that after all is the greatest weapon in an assassins arsenal. So thanks for reading and if anybody want's to try and pick up this idea and make it all I can say is you're an absolute legend for making a boys dream come true.

Peace.
