Balakirev
1) If you use a mod and don't like it and turn it off, is their any real lasting damage to your game(besides lost items, npcs, etc.)? There's no easy answer: it depends. For example, if you turn off a mod that has dependencies--lke turning off COBL, when you're running the keychain mod that requires COBL--you will have problems, because the latter mod will be looking for COBL. Or you may have Exnem-based armor in the game, but taken out Exnem's body structure: that will result in clipping issues. In general...no, you shouldn't have problems. But each instance needs to be carefully considered.
bben46
#2. If you don't have a infrared device plugged in on a desk top, the console should work. If you do have one, unplug it to play Oblivion. If you are using a laptop, the Infrared is always turned on by default. You must disable it in the control panel. #3. Thank you for supporting the people who made this great game. You need to copy your saves yes, and the ini that is in the same folder. AND, for those saves to work, you need all of the mods that were loaded when they were made. Just copy the entire \data folder and copy it back when you install your new Oblivion. Be sure to go to the Bethesda site and download the latest patch also. http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm
