kennygnu
Are these item types cursed or something? In my quest to get a full set of enchanted clothes that looks like, well, anything other than the default exquisite robe covering everything up, I have tried to download a bunch of mods to add variety to the clothing available in the game with mods like Aleanne's Clothes and Armor 1 & 2.Then I noticed something about the 'clothes' in these mods. A lot of the items are misrepresented.Aleanne's skirts are actually pants, and the one robe is also actually pants.Another mod which is supposed to add invisible clothes called The Emperor's New Clothes also comes with a full set of exquisite clothing without any associated textures or meshes, but once again, the robe and skirt are not actually robes and skirts. They are right wrist and left wrist. In other words, if I want to equip any robe or skirt, I will cover up either half or all of the models provided by these mods, and likely other clothing mods as well. So my question is, why do none of the mods out there include actual skirts and robes? Has anyone seen or heard of a mod that adds new clothes to these slots? I'm talking about CTDT 4 and 7, the actual values that assign the item to the skirt and robe slots on the character. Are these item types just ridiculously hard to work with? Are they inherently glitchy? I'm sort of miffed that I will have to choose between aesthetics and total enchantment points on my character, because nowhere have I ever seen any mods that allow me to equip skirts and robes that do not immediately cover up everything else my character is wearing. Even if I just want my armor to be visible, I have to forgo using those two item slots entirely. I even tried using the Morrowind Enchanted Editor to edit one of the .esp files to force the items named robes and skirts to actually occupy those item slots, but without any actual textures or meshes to refer to (I was editing the Emperor's New Clothes.esp, the less complex of the two), the robe and skirt are not invisible. They flat out erase either the character's hips when equipping the skirt, or all of the character except the head, neck, hands and feet when wearing the robe.So it seems it is not even possible to include textureless 'invisible' robes and skirts in the game. If I'm going to wear them at all, my character must look hideous wearing the bright neon red and yellow colors of exquisite clothing from the vanilla game. I even have a mod installed that gives all clothing across the board the same enchantment capacity, so common, expensive and extravagant clothes all have the enchantment values of exquisite clothes, but somehow this mod does not cover the one really good looking as especially rare skirt, the Imperial Templar Skirt, ID "templar skirt obj" which is a crying shame because I would have been happy wearing that one as part of my enchanted set. I had to use the Construction Set to make an addon that boosted the enchantment value of Imperial and Templar Skirts to match the Exquisite clothing values in my quest to not have to don the bright orange floor length skirt. Does anyone know of any mods that add skirts and robes to the game that are actually skirts and robes, and not merely mislabeled pants, or more confusing still, mislabeled gloves? abot
Game engine limits workaround. Better bodies/better clothes use apparently wrong body slots in this funny way to allow more variety/extra slots ((jewelry, accessories...)/transparency etc. You can find more technical info on related readmes, the original site is no more available so you would have to look in the internet archive, in short Better Bodies provides several features that enable modders makingclothing and armor to be more flexible as far as what they can make. Theprimary one is new slots that don't replace anything. If you can use aslot that replaces a part, please do so, as this cuts down on the totalnumber of polygons. However, if you can't or don't want to replace a bodypart, we've made four new slots available with Better Bodies. These slotsare "Left Foot", "Left Ankle", "Left Knee", and "Left Upper Leg." Thefollowing guidelines should be used when using these slots:Left Foot - Used for sandals and anything else that covers the feetLeft Ankle - Used for shirts and anything else that covers the upper bodyLeft Upper Leg - Used for pants, skirts, or anything covering the lower bodyLeft Knee - Miscellaneous slot (jewelry, accessories, etc.)Skirt - Miscellaneous slotPlease refer to our web site for more information on how to make clothingand armor.
