I know there's this thread already, but I'm not sure how it translates to outfit models. I'm currently working on a multi-piece outfit. I'm about halfway done and it's approaching 5,000 tri's, already pretty heavily optimized. I think I'll end around 12,000 tris. I'm just trying to gauge how much further I'll have to optimize.
