Problem with hidden .esp files, (hidden files unchecked)

When i save an .esp file or open one in the geck, I can see the list of .esp files I have made or downloaded from Nexus.

When I load the fallout mod manager, I see the list of esp. files I have made or downloaded from Nexus.

BUT when I go into the actual data file, through the program files, I see no .esp files. I cannot open up my email and attach an .esp file to an email because it says they arent there. However they are there because the geck and fomm shows them in that location.

What is keeping these files hidden? I unchecked all options that have to do with hidden files, and I still do not see them. I am running vista with a hard copy of fallout 3, not steam. I cant even send anyone an .esp file or go into the data file and move them around myself because they seem to be hidden.

Anyone have any suggestions or comments on what I should do to make these files viewable? I really dont get why I cant see them, especially with hidden files turned off....Thanks for any help anyone can give!

I've heard other people have this problem and I think it has to do with not being logged on as an admin under Vista. Something about Vista not letting you alter certain files without admin approval. I'd give that a shot if you haven't already.

Anyone else?

hmm that could be a reason, I am using the admin account, but I have heard that vista works funny with admin controls if you do not specify a password for the admin account. I never specified a password because its my comp, I am going to try that and see if it works. Thanks for the suggestion!

Ok, I figured it out. I tried what you said and still had no luck, but thanks for your suggestions.

For anyone that has this problem in the future, there is an option called "compatibility files" when viewing files in the explorer. It is to the right of the views tab and shows up when you have compatible files under a certain folder. Once you click it, it takes you to all the compatible files, and within there I was able to see all my .esp files.

You can drag them out of there and put them back into the data file and they show up like regular and you no longer need to click on compatibilty files to view them.
