Highsight
Hello everybody. For those of you that don't know yet, I have created a mod that will turn you into a ghoul if you don't manage your radiation. It can be found here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3160 The only problem is, it is pretty unbalanced considering the only downside at the moment is you lose two charisma points. I have created one new downside which I have implemented, but before I release it, I would like help balancing it. The downside is, since you are a ghoul, you THRIVE on radiation, so although radiation heals you, if you don't go a certain amount of time without any radiation, you slowly die. It works well enough, but I would like some opinions from the community to help me balance it. Currently, if you go 4 minutes without any radiation, you will slowly die at 10 HP per second until you get at least 1 rad, resetting the 4 minute timer. Bare in mind, food has radiation in it, and that counts. So, does that sound fair? Or should I change it further?
Callighan
I think there's not enough benefits for that kind of penalty. Other than that, it's a sweet mod.
Sarteka
Well the BoS shoot ghouls on sight, so you should become an enemy of the BoS if you become a ghoul =o They shouldn't let you into tenpenny tower Like Murphy said Jet barely effects Ghouls (hence the ultra jet), maybe make the chems less effective for ghouls? Ghouls should be healed by radiation (like solar powered perk, only when exposed to radiation) Automatically give that limb regen perk you get from moira Feral Ghouls become friendly Possibly make super mutants friendly. The npc outside of underworld says super mutants don't attack ghouls. hope some of that helped?
Highsight
@CallighanWell, any suggestions on how I can balance that penilty? @SartekaActually, only the rookies shoot ghouls on sight, and they are usually in The Citadel, so doing that could break the main quest. ;) Currently, I am working on not allowing you access to Tenpenny Tower, I just need to learn more about how dialogs work. That is a brilliant idea! Thanks. :) Radiation already heals you. Good idea. Already done. Another thing I considered, but I feel it would make the game far too easy since Super Mutants are a good 30% of the enemies you will face. The way I see it, the Super Mutants attack you after you're a ghoul because you mettle in their affairs. ;) Indeed it helped, thanks alot! By any chance, do you agree or disagree with my idea of being dependent on Radiation?
Callighan
@CallighanWell, any suggestions on how I can balance that penilty? A similar ability to the Glowing One would be nice.
Highsight
Where you can give off a burst of radiation at will?

Highsight
Well... I could probably find a way to make that work... it's just, I don't see how that helps balance out being a ghoul, it actually makes being a ghoul more appealing. Callighan
I assume the other ghouls don't seem to need rads to survive. So when you have to be irradiated to survive, I just assumed I'm one of the Glowing Ones. Or at least a variant of them. Anyhow, do you lose rads?If you don't, I think it's too easy to maintain rads above 1. As a ghoul who has taken so much rads, having at least 10 rads to survive makes sense. Highsight
Ahh, I see what you're saying. According to Fallout Lore, yes all ghouls need some form of radiation to survive, even if it's just a bit. That is why they tend to build communities nearby radiation sources. Currently, you do not "lose rads", since you can never really get rads. It is currently set up so if you aren't near a radiated area, or eat something radiated within 4 minutes, you will start losing health every second until you do (of course, the radiation will heal you, so as long as you find radiation, you will get your health back).
