Sabat9
So i'm getting a fair amount of reports of crashing when loading Archie's Bunker in savegames. It seems to work with no problem when starting a NEW character with the mod installed. mod is found HERE I can't really tell how extensive the problem is based solely on comments, number of downloads, rating, etc. It's all inconclusive as far as determining if it's more likely to be a problem with the mod, or just a problem with a few end-users' setup. I really can't imagine where the problem lies. There are no new models/textures included in the mod, and i did go through with Fo3 Edit and remove changes that i hadn't intended to make. The only clues that i can come up with, is that it may have something to do with the modifications i made to the exterior worldspaces around the entrances to the Bunker cell. I may have read somewhere that it's necessary to create a .esm as opposed to just an .esp when making exterior worldspace changes. Can anyone shed some light on this particular aspect? Personally, i have had zero problems with the mod in savegames or new games, and based upon the number of downloads vs. the number of problem comments, i have to wonder if the problem really is with the mod itself. Again, it's inconclusive based on the feedback on the mod page. sorry for being so vague, but I'm not even sure what info would really be needed to track down this crashing problem...any feedback would be great, download the mod and try it out, rummage around in the GECK with it....i kinda got nowhere on the Bethesda forums with basically this same post, so i'm lookin at you, nexus people....HALP!!!! ask me anything about the mod, tell me about similar problems with your mod or other mods, or just give any advice you can think of...thanks! I am still a newb, but I encountered a similar problem. It may be deleting things in the world space. I wanted to make a new town (am still working on it) and I noticed that deleting anything in the world made my game crash. Not the file I was using to test it, but when I loaded a diff save file, it would crash back to the desktop. I did a test and created a mod where I just deleted some rocks and tree's, I tried to load it from the same save file and it did the same thing and just crashed upon loading the save file. You might want to do a similar test like I did and see if it has to do with deleting objects in the world like tree's. My thinking was that maybe since your not duplicating a cell and are altering the actual world, that it could create conflicts. I dont know a ton about the Geck though so this could have nothing to do with it. Sorry I cant offer a more concrete suggestion...
Sabat9
actually, that's the most concrete suggestion i've yet received. as soon as i have time, i'm gonna check it out. I did delete a few FX items and possibly some rocks, etc., I'd say there's a good chance this is the problem, given the testing that you did. I will have to use Fo3 Edit to remove the changes to the worldspace, then redo the outside areas of Archie's Bunker. lookit us, a coupla noobs solvin problems....thanks man, will check it out asap. EDIT QUESTION FOR ANYONE: If i convert my .esp to an .esm, will that save me the trouble of having to redo the exteriors?
