Schauble
So, when a guy copys the .esp file to the data files, where exactly do you copy the meshes that come with some of the mods? i'm not the brightest when it comes to mods, so it might help to know these things. Thanks.
neunen
you should just be able to drag the Meshes and Textures folders into your Data folder, and allow it to "overwrite if necessary" as long as the author has made the folder system right. Schauble
So the meshes and textures don't need to be placed into the meshes and textures folders in the data files? just put'em in?
neunen
sorry that not what i meant, you can either copy the (mod)\data folder into your main FO3 folder and the say is ok to overwrite the existing data folder OR copy the (mod)\data\meshes and (mod)\data\textures folders into your data folder and say its ok to overwrite... basically it wont actually overwrite anything, it will just add the new files to the folders. unless of course two mods share the same file name in which case you will overwrite that file. that way the folder hierarchy stays intact and the game knows where to find stuff... Schauble
So in other words no, the textures and meshes do not need to be placed in the already excesting textures and meshes folders? i'll give it a whirl. Thanks.
neunen
the textures and meshes need to get where they need to go, but that is accomplished by copying the entire mesh or text folder to the data folder. not the individual .nif and .dds files. in general just open th zip file and drag the folder named data into the fallout 3 main folder... that should put it all where it need to go. deliverance6
basically, hope the mod author has the file structure correct and unzip the whole folder of theirs into you're Fallout3 folder
