The Cave Song

A poetic listing of Oblivion's caves to the tune of "Oh, Susanna".

Underneath Cyrodiil’s lands,

There winds a complex of

Caverns, caves, and grottos

Unlike the world above.

There’s Nonwyll, Sandstone, and Rockmilk,

Kindred, and Fingerbowl,

Barren with its vampiric ilk,

Quickwater and Charcoal.

 

There’s Silver Tooth,

Newt, Leafrot, and Echo,

The latter in a dire truth,

Housing Mannimarco.

 

Broken Promises, Mingo,

Kingscrest, and Red Ruby,

Nisin, and Goblin Jim’s abode,

Moss Rock and Muck Valley.

Bloodmayne, Unmarked, Yellow Tick

Swampy, Wind, Redwater,

And Fatback just south a bit,

From Traven’s alma mater.

 

Lake Arrius,

Lair of the Mythic Dawn,

And the Argonian surplus

Dwelling inside Veyond!

 

Glademist, Hrota, Wenderbek,

Onyx, Sage Glen, Toadstool,

And in Lost Boy you can check

The story of two fools.

Felgageldt, Fyrelight too,

Greenmead, and Fallen Rock,

Breakneck, Capstone, Mongrel’s Tooth,

Arrowshaft, and Grayrock!

 

Sinkhole’s pitfalls,

And Wellspring’s mystic glade,

Also ancient Underpall

Wherein lies Whitestrake’s blade!

 

Serpent Hollow, Serpent’s Trail,

Fieldhouse, and Rock Bottom,

Sideways tells some Ayleids’ tale,

And the fate that was wrought ‘em.

Boreal Stone with its small grail,

The Hollow of Deepscorn,

Pothole and Shattered Scales,

Dunbarrow Cove, and Horn!

 

Darkfathom’s shrine,

Bloodrun’s undead bullion,

Tidewater with its swampy brine,

Tomb of the Amelions!

 

Bramblepoint where an indiscreet

Researcher’d gotten gypped,

And somewhere, a spectral heart beats

In the Night Mother’s Crypt.

Redguard Valley, and Shinbone,

Brittlerock, Shadow’s Rest,

Smoke Hole with its deathless bones,

And Timberscar’s goblin nest!

 

Memorial,

Also Undertow, it’s true.

Smuggler’s quite congenial

For thieves and hitmen too!

 

There’s Reedstand, and there’s Robber’s Glen,

Bloodcrust, Crayfish as well,

Dark Fissure and its evil sins,

Howling in its West Weald dell.

Outlaw Endre’s, Bedrock Break,

Cracked Wood, Frostfire Glade,

Haynote, and Dzonot staked

With makeshift palisades!

 

Beast’s Maw, Bleak Flats,

The caves ‘neath Bruma’s roads,

Below Imbel’s mansion flat,

And Black Rock’s bandit abode!

 

Well, I reckon

That I’ve named each in turn.

And next time I’m beckoned,

There’ll be something else to learn!
