i was wondering if it would be possibly to make a mod that actually puts damage on the armor, for instance arrow holes, blade cuts and bents from blunt weapons.

P.S

If there is one could you post the link please cause I've not been able to find one thanks

Short explanation;

Not possible.

Long explanation;

Unfortunately it's not possible to do it without using specific scripts and pre-assigned meshes to change when the armor durability for example goes below a certain point and even then it would likely require you to re-equip the armor to take affect. For real time visible damage on the armor, I don't think it will ever be possible in TES IV, possibly in a few years when the technology advances and PC:s become more powerful, but right now I think it would be rather heavy to run such things on any computer.(Due to the fact that the damage the armor would recieve could be in any place on it, which would require the game to save the mesh as a new file each time it gained any kind of damage, thus taking even more space from the PC and likely slowing it down. Yes there could be a script removing the old un-used meshes when a new one is made, but it's functionality would be questionable at best. A fully impact morphable armor could work, but I don't even wanna think how much work that would take, not to even speak of several of them...)

I have always wondered that myself.. A related question comes to mind, the weaponry used against the armor types. One would think, that standard swords are useless against plate and other heavier styled armors. Blunt weapons, should wear out the plate armor faster than a sword would. Sword would cause the player to do less damage to said NPC in plate or something along those lines. Same goes with the arrow types, some would not pierce the plate...

after typing that, really as it is in reality Maces and ect, are the weapon of choice for soldier. Easy to wield, cheap to produce and very effective on the battle field.
