RuthlessPheonix
Seriously... why aren't games with binaural listening. Its so much more immersive. Is it possible to make this work? positional 3d hearing?

Tehandyman
Its not possible, binaural audio isn't a matter of sound editing. It requires two microphones to simulate your two ears, and then dynamic recording. Its impossible to do this. Maybe in the future video games will have binaural audio but probably not for another few years. Making binaural audio requires dynamic sound recording not on the fly game mechanics. What I'm trying to say is in order to make it sound like a bear is circling you in the video game, you would literally have to record the sound of a bear while it's rotating around two microphones. Its pretty much impossible with current technology to simulate every possible sound in binaural audio. The closest thing you can get to binaural audio is to go outside and play the game of Life lol Actually just did some research. There are some iPhone games currently out that utilizes really crazy technology to create a game that generates real time binaural audio. Its interesting stuff, but I reckon it'll be a while before real full blown video games are made with the ability to generate binaural audio. On a side note, here's a simulating what schizophrenics hear on a regular basis. Your example audio reminded me of this even though I'm not sure this is binaural audio. Binaural audio absolutely does not require audio recorded with two microphones; there are existing algorithms which can take the 3D coordinates of the sound's origin and modulate each channel of the audio to approximate the appropriate volume and timing of the audio to each ear. It doesn't actually take a whole lot of computation relative to what Skyrim does with directional sounds already (which is horrendous and very immersion-breaking for deaf-in-one-ear headphone users such as myself). Whether or not it's possible for a mod to implement this in Skyrim is for someone more knowledgeable to say.
ArchangelZero7
I play this with turtle beaches so this would be spectacular to implement o.o though it's also not bad as-is.
