Failed to enumerate subscribed files

Ok, here is what happened. I read about SkyTweak, which lets you adjust a ton of parameters in skyrim. I mostly got it for the critical hit adjustment so that criticals would be actually meaningful. Anyway, it said I needed to also install SkyUI which I didn't have, so I used the NMM to install both that and skytweak.

But when NMM tried to install SkyUI it said I didn't have SKSE installed, which is weird because I have it installed. It promted me to download sksy ini file-12923-v1, which I did, and that seemed to solve that little problem. I then installed both SkyUI and Skytweak.

Now whenever I load the game (either from NMM or from Steam) I get the "Failed to enumerate subscribed files" error message. I'll still be able to load the game and get to the title screen, but when I try to load my last save the game crashes to the desktop.

I've tried uninstalling SkyUI, Skytweak, and even the new SKSE ini file I downloaded, but nothing I do seems to fix this problem.

Can anyone help me please? I don't understand what I could have done to break my game. Thanks!

Did you try updating to the latest versions of both SKSE and SkyUI, they've both been updated halfway recently--SKSE especially. You also need to patch the game to the new 1.9.3 something or other patch. This may or may not help. I get the same message when changing graphics setting using outside programs (SKSE, SkyUI, .INI mods, etc.) but it doesn't seem to cause the crashes you're describing. So far my functionality is fine. I did have to upgrade everything the other day just to get it to load, though--so it's a thought. Good luck!

Yeah, I updated everything afaik. I came back to skyrim last week after being gone for a few months, so obviously the new patch downloaded and then I had to install the latest skse (which pretty much meant I had to enroll in a computer programming course just to figure out how to complete the 57 steps required to install the damn thing. But that's a gripe for another thread. lol).

 

Anyway, I went through all that and my game has been working for about a week now no problems, it was just when I tried to install SkyUI that all this happened. I'm pretty sure I got the latest one, I did a SkyUI search on this website and downloaded that one. Version 3.4.

 

However currently my game is working as I was finally able to uninstall SkyUI and Skytweak. Not really sure what step it was that did it, I just kept uninstalled all my mods and then reinstalled them all except SkyUI. It was a real pain in the butt, but it's working now.

 

Honestly, all of this was just to get a mod to make critical hit perks actually function in the game. Anyone have any recommendations for a simple mod that does this? Thanks!

I can't help you with the simple fix--I'm sure someone around here can. I thought critical hit perks did function these days. Do you have all the unofficial patches? There's also a mod called "Weapon Fixes" or something--it's part of the Crafting Overhaul trilogy, but you don't need to install all three. That might do what you need. The perks don't always stack. I'm not sure if it's a bug, or an attempt to keep things from getting unbalanced. SKSE is not that hard to install--as I recall it does most of the work for you. What will kill you are those "SkyProc" patches--if you have any of those. I use "dual sheath redux" and I have to re-run the patcher to prevent CTD anytime I muck with the installed weapons mods too much. . . .
