Editing Melee Weapon Impact Data

Recommended Posts

Greetings all,

I need help editing the "Special" attributes for Melee weapons.

Looking through GECK, I am getting the impression that the editor is geared more towards ranged weapons, than it is towards Melee fighters. It's simple to edit the stats or abilities of any given ranged weapon within FO3, but to give a Melee weapon the same attributes, is proving to be a little more difficult for a fresh, new GECK user like myself.

I have tried editing both the "Impact Data" & "Impact Data Sets" with no real luck.

I thought I had found out how to do that it in a previous post, but in reality, I had simply been sidetracked by the "Special Effects" options. I will say though, it was cool figuring out how to make a projectile, such as a Plasma projectile, shoot up & then "Seek" (Kinda) the enemy below instead of shooting in a straight line towards the enemy. But back to my question. I know how to apply the Impact Data sets to a weapon, but how do I actually edit the attributes? I don't mean by Right clicking & clicking "EDIT" as, the screen that pops up, does not really help. Unless I use a ptojectile, I can't seem to figure out how in sam hell, I edit the Impact Data so that I can edit the impact force.

Sorry for the noob questions, but I still can't seem to grasp how to do it. Perhaps if I had screenshots, perhaps a power point or maybe even a member to come to my house and do it for me... lol..

ummm i'm lost with your question, do you want melee to shoot bullets?

or do you just want to add more force upon impact of melee?

Between the time I submitted the above post 15 mins ago & now, I finally figured out how to blast an enemy back on a critical via a ranged weapon by editing FakeForce via projectiles. Now, when I get a critical, the enemy I shot at, gets blasted a great deal of distance away depending on how I edit the impact force. He'll fly such as if he was hit with the Liberty Prime weapon, only WITHOUT the graphics, which is what I was looking for.

However, I want to be able to apply the same settings to a melee weapon, but I just can't. Even if I edit the FakeForce under Explosions & then apply it to an impact data set, such as say the Sledgehammer, the effect is canceled.

Ideas?

may not be what you are looking for or asking, but have you checked out the Plasma Sword. It has an effect on impact that turns the target into gooo. Something there might help you determine how to apply similar effect either in the critical area or the effect triger in the weapon itself.

I remember seeing a post of yours a couple days ago tx3000. I am very much looking forward to your video tutorials. They sound like they will be a great help to everyone here. If they answer all the questions I have jotted down here on a pad next to my PC, then i'll give you a Kudo each day for a week.

Thanks in advance!
