Custom ini hud & pipboy colours failing to work in game.

I've been having trouble getting custom ini edited hud and pipboy colours to work in game, the game keeps redirecting them back to the original base colour selection I had, I know what tools to use to get the right colour codes but it still wont work, do I need script extender or something?
