Johny Obliv
Hey people, i have a problem with oblivion. When i go to the in game menu, and i tweak my video settings to the max, they keep resetting when i close the menu again. I tried typing save ini in the console, but that didn't work either. Can anyone help me with this?
bben46
Are you running streamline? It automatically changes settings while you play, It changes the video settings to keep the fps within a certain range. Even if you manually set the ini file it will change it. If you get the exit error when you quit the game, it often does not save any ini changes that were made using the in game settings menu. And reverts back to the settings that were in place when you started. You can edit the ini manually outside of the game and save it as long as you are not using a mod that changes anything in the game. If you need help on tweaking your ini, This is the best site I know of for game tweaks.http://www.tweakguides.com/Contact.html

bben46
I tried the v3.1 streamline and found it to have a few bugs. If you need streamline drop back to the v3.0 as it is more stable. If your system can do max settings, you really don't need streamline as it is intended to help those who have systems that give really low fps making the game hard to play. It works by forcing some of the video to lower settings in order to keep the fps in a certain range. This worked good, but sometimes causes the game to stutter badly when it is making its adjustments on some (mine) systems. If you can maintain an FPS of 30 while in combat with multiple opponents and still maintain high video settings you don't need streamline. A good place to test fps is in the market district. Go there during business hours and make a save as soon as you arrive. then walk around. there should be about 7 or 8 NPCs there all walking around and getting into conversations with each other. check your FPS while doing this. Then, make whatever changes you want to test, and reload your save to test the FPS with the new settings.
