Granted, most of Fallout weapons are actually very futureistic but in the back of my mind is a little gremline that screams modern day weapons. So to satisfy that gremline, im filling out this request for a complete weapon overhaul. I have thought long and hard about what weapons would be as close to there Fallout counter parts as possable. So here we go, remeber these are suggestions; its all up to you the modder what you put in the weapon overhaul. Small Arms-----------------------------------------------------------------------------10mm Pistol to be replaced by the SOCOM Pistol http://www.hkpro.com/socomcan.jpg It is a very populer Handgun that maintains the bulky feal of the 10mm Pistol.------------------------------------------------------------------------------10mm Sub Machine gun to be replaced by the MPT-9K http://www.defencetalk.com/pictures/data/4...E_GUN_MPT9K.jpg Its small, light weight and the overall desighn is the same.------------------------------------------------------------------------------.32 Pistol to be replaced by the .357 Magum Revolver http://www.dreadgazebo.com/gunporn/wp-cont...-wesson-ppc.jpg I really felt let down by the good old 6 shooter. The desighn is almost identical, also a bigger calibur packs more punch.------------------------------------------------------------------------------The BlackHawk to be replaced by Scoped Desert Eagle http://guns4u.info/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/44magnum.jpg (Top one) This will set the BlackHawk aside form the scoped revolver. Plus it looks really cool.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Chinese Pistol to be ????? I really have no idea how to replace the Chinese Pistol with a weapon that maintains the same feel. The bolt action can be replaced with a time delay like the Combat Shotgun to keep balance.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Sniper to be replaced by the Dragunov http://www.imt.net/~mele/images/dragunov1.gif Its a semi-auto just like the Sniper, and it has a slick desighn-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------The sawn off to be untouched Like the Chinese Pistol. A retex is all this needs.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Flamer ot be untouched Meh, its a trickey one. Its as modern as you can geta Flamethrower, so lets leave it at that.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Minigun to be untoched Again, its as modern as you can get. Also you dont have all these knobs and swithced on it.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The FatMan to be untouched Hey, I dont see one of these in modern days do you ?------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Im going to leave out the Laser weapons because there is no modern counter part of these weapons. r4y30n Posted January 26, 2009 Share Posted January 26, 2009 The SOCOM is by no means a popular handgun. Popular in pop culture, perhaps, but few people, military or otherwise, have one in real life. It was designed to be used as a primary weapon. My choice to replace the 10mm pistol would be a 10mm M1911, however the only one that's been released is scaled to about the size of a Desert Eagle... A .357 Magnum would indeed be a good replacement for the .32 as many police agencies used it for years, however it wouldn't really fit to make it a huge PPC competition gun like in the pic you posted, perhaps a snub-nosed detective special would be better? No argument on the Blackhawk being a scoped 10 inch Desert Eagle. It's a unique weapon, so it can be just about anything, and the extra 2 rounds per magazine would make it just that much more potent. It would also give the gun a reason for being more powerful as a gas operated semi-auto doesn't leak propellant between the barrel and chamber like a revolver, not to mention the extra barrel length. I think the Chinese pistol would ideally be replaced by the TT33 Tokarev, as it was knocked off by the Chinese in real life. It also packs quite a punch; the 7.62x25mm ammo it fires is comparable in power to a .357 magnum. http://www.dreadgazebo.com/gunporn/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/tokarev353.JPG The rifle you suggested to replace the hunting rifle is the M14 or one of its variants. A handful actually are fully automatic, and as such I think it would make a far better replacement for the american assault rifle; with a wood stock it fits the style, and it was commonly used during the beginning of the Vietnam war. For a hunting rifle I would suggest a variant of the Remington 700, one of the most common bolt action hunting rifles in America. Then the sniper rifle could be replaced by a more militaristic variant such as the M40, a weapon much more reasonably sized to fire .308 (the current sniper rifle looks like it should fire .50 BMG). I would like to see a Chinese standard issue Type 63 rifle to replace the Chinese assault rifle, simply because I'm tired of seeing the Kalashnikov (or some rehash) in games, and this really is a Chinese assault rifle. http://www.defencetalk.com/pictures/data/4068/medium/Type63.jpg And for the minigun... How about an XM214 Microgun 6-Pak? Chambered for 5.56mm instead of the minigun's 7.62, it was designed to be carried by a team of two men but shouldn't be a problem for anyone wearing power armor (it's also a bit more reasonably proportioned than the in-game minigun). Believe it or not, such a weapon really was designed and built during the 50's. It was called the M-388 Davy Crockett. The M-388 projectile weighed in at 76 lbs and the recoilless rifle that fired it was probably over 100 lbs. It was designed to be driven in by jeep or truck and set up to guard important roads. Anyways, I'm aware that the TT33 was a Soviet weapon, but as I've stated, the Chinese did (and still do) make a copies of it, namely the Type 51, Type 54, M20 and TU-90. ralta Posted January 27, 2009 Share Posted January 27, 2009 lol socom pistol is a mk23 or in some cases a USP.45 You're right about it being the 'MK23', as that's it's the official designation (it's referred to as SOCOM because that's one of the groups who uses it). However, you're wrong about the USP; the USP is a different gun. It fires the same rounds (.45) and both guns were made by Heckler and Koch, however its design is different and it sees far more action than the MK23.
