Thor.
Hey everybody, i have a question thats been going through my mind for several days now, what is better to do, put two 256gb ssd's in a raid or a single 512gb ssd, and just leave it at that. Is it worth the speed increase. http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2370500&Sku=V261-2002if someone could help me find one even cheaper would greatly appreciated Edited April 26, 2013 by Thor. Vecna6667
Depends on how tech savvy you may be. As far as I know, only certain Intel SSDs(I'm not certain which ones) seem to have TRIM support for raided SSDs but garbage collection algorithims have gotten better to all but negate the need for TRIM. Even so, it would be better to with one SSD as a boot drive and a second SSD for games. The big disadvantage with RAID 0(I am assuming that you would be using this RAID setup) is if one drive fails, the data on both is lost. Thor.
Trim is only supported by Intel Motherboards, amd i can't use it at the moment so its not a big deal, any ways trim is only a tack on, there is other methods. Sigh i wish it was amd based though, Ivy bridge CPU's grr. i decided i am going to wait until black Friday to get my ssd's, hopefully some big deals will popup sooner then that hopefully.
