Greensbr
The game crashes when I try to load an old save, I used fomm to make sure I didn't have any mods running and I started it up. I can make a new game it seems, but I can't make an old save. I might have caused a problem by messing around with the G.E.C.K, (im a novice, was curious) though I doubt it would allow you to mess with the base data right off the bat? (in case of newbs like me.) Anyways just to be safe I uninstalled FO3 then re-installed, to see if it would fix it, but the problem is still there.. so how could I play my old saves? PimpBot420
Have you changed anything in the Fallout.ini file since you've made those saves? A while back I increased the uGridsToLoad setting from 5 to 6, made a save. Later when I reduced it back to 5 (default value), any save I tried to load that used the value of 6 would crash immediately. To get around it I had to load a save game using uGridsToLoad=6, Alt-Tab out to desktop, edit the Fallout.ini file to say uGridsToLoad=5, Alt-Tab back into FO3, open the console using "~", and type refini. RefIni is used to refresh Fallout using the current INI settings. Most INI changes won't have this effect, but that's what happened to me. I hope this helps. Greensbr
Okay well I tried to restore archiveinvalidate.exe (using the program) with my mods and the thing still wont work. I started a new game and it worked fine until I stepped out into the main world (leaving the vault) then it crashes. I haven't tried your fix yet, but, I looked at my .ini files in my documents and it seems along with my Fallout.ini i've got like a GECKcustom.ini and a GECKprefs.ini, I dont know if those effect the game? (Like I said I was messing with the G.E.C.K but I did reinstall afterwards... so those files could have been created by me accidently or maybe they just came with the G.E.C.K., (before this problem I could have re-rendered the "trees lod" or something corupting the data, but im not sure). Could these .ini files be the problem?

If you had a game save from any version of the game previously to 1.0.0.15 and then you patched your game to 1.0.0.15 or above then your saves are no longer any good and the game cannot read them. So ini changes are not going to do anything and nor will anything else. If you did in fact patch your game then you will have to start a completely new game. Sorry! Greensbr
Wait I'm not sure if I neccessarily patched the game, but I did get the G.E.C.K, a bunch of mods, FOMM, etc... ..But the game could have patched automatically when I re-installed.. is that possible? If not that I don't think I'm patched. But as of now, even when I start a new game, when I try to enter the main world it crashes. And I'm trying to find the issue. Is that Fallout mod Merger or Fallout Mod Manager?
Greensbr
Fallout Mod Manager, (I used one for Oblivion to load my mods because I had vista issues, etc. Same program thingy for Fallout 3.)
