SKSE not working?

FIXED

I'm having same issue with SKSE not loading Skyrim. I uninstalled Skyrim from Steam, unsubscribed all of my mods from the Steam WorkShop. I have no mods installed from Nexus either.I even made sure I have all the new DLC and right clicked on my TESV.exe in my Skyrim folder to check for latest version. 1.9.32 is what it says. I doublechecked with skse silverlock org to make sure i have the right versions and it says 1.06.13 is the latest. I used Gophers video to install SKSE and it worked before when I installed SKSE over a year ago. I used the new icon to load SKSE, tried running as admin. Even used the SKSE loader exe directly from the folder with and without admin. Every single time when I click the tilde and type in GetSKSEVersion it says Script Command GetSKSEVersion not found.

I don't know why but I didn't do anything and... SKSE is now showing it's installed. Maybe I just needed to come here and post for it to work. =p

Did you actually remove some mods after being shut down by the limit? This is a hard limit and not something that can be fixed in software. Wrye Bash (and some other utility programs) do allow you to combine some mods to keep below that limit. But once the limit is reached, the game will crash.

I suggest renaming your data folder, verifying through steam (it should create a new data folder with just Skyrim.esm in it) then testing with no mods and no SKSE - then add in the latest SKSE and test again. This will verify that the game itself works.

Nope, removed like six/seven and then tried what you said. Didn't work at all, sadly... I also know this is the COMPLETE wrong thing, but any tips of getting a CTD'ing New Vegas to work as well?

I'm not an SKSE expert or a modding expert, but I did just manage to get SKSE working. Here's the situation I was seeing and what I did to get it working:

My past situation (where SKSE would not work):

  • I installed Skyrim and my DLC last week, so it current. My TESV.exe version is 1.9.32.
  • My SKSE version is 1.06.13.
  • I have no mods installed that require SKSE yet.
  • I used Gopher's video to install SKSE.
  • I'm definitely starting the game with the SKSE_Loader.exe. I've started in normally and run it as ADMIN. In all cases, the game starts. When you get the black window where you the CONTINUE option, and you use the command prompt to ask GetSKSEVersion, you get back "Script command GetSKSEVersion not found".
I reread the SKSE ReadMe files very carefully and noticed that is says STEAM has to be already up and working when you use the SKSE_Loader.exe to start Skyrim. (Duh!)

I shut down Skyrim, started up just STEAM and clicked on the SKSE_Loader. This time, when I ran the GetSKSEVersion, I got a version number. It's working. Yeah!

I hope this helps you and anyone else struggling with SKSE.
