Mod breaks bound weapons when Mystic Binding perk added

Hi all -

 

I'm very new to all this so if I'm posting in the wrong place or leaving out anything please let me know.

 

I love bound weapons (esp the bow), but find them really OP at lower levels.

 

I looked around for a mod that might solve that and found this Scaling Bound Weapons

 

It seems like the bound bow in the mod may have worked better in earlier versions and was left out of the current version according to some comments in the . Fixing that has required some manual editing of a script to get the arrows to spawn. With a lot of help from people here I was able to get that working in testing and started a real play-through.

 

I discovered two things just now when I took the Mystic Binding perk:

 

1. Bound sword appears and does damage as normal before MB.

After the perk, it no longer appears when cast, but if I complete the cast and attack my handy stunt-horker, it still does damage.

 

So it seems like just the "invisible weapon" problem that several people pointed out in the comments on the mod.

 

(There are suggestions there on how to fix this but they involve SSEEdit and have no idea what that is, yet. I wanted to check here before I learn what that is, how to use it, and how many different script/source/source/script/source/script paths I need to figure out to use it correctly)

 

2. Bound bow appears and does damage as normal before MB.

After the perk, it doesn't appear when cast, and if I complete the cast and then shoot at stunt-horker it does no damage. It still animates the player drawing the bow string and there is a bow-shot sound effect, but no damage.

 

So I'm wondering if in the case of the bow it's both:

 

a) MB perk breaks the weapon's appearance

 

b) MB breaks the spawning of the arrows maybe, given that they needed a script addition to get them working at all pre-MB?

 

All I wanted to do was use a mod to have scaling on the bound weps, and now I've wound up learning about CK, scripts, properties, arrays etc. It's kind of fun but mainly I just want to play the game.

 

If I need to learn SSEEdit I will, but if there is a more functional mod out there that allows for bound weapons to scale, please lmk. This was the only one I could find when I looked, but it seems like it needs a bunch of work for anyone who isn't used to working on mods.

 

ETA: I'm not using Ordinator, Vokrii, Perkus Maximus or anything that alters any perks AFAIK. (Unless Ars Metallica would affect this??)
