BotSlashBot Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I was trying to send my saved game file to a friend of mine but it wouldn't work, he said.Apparently although he could find the save file in game, upon loading it up it only showed a naked avatar at the beginning, in front of vault 101 with no stats, items, or quests. When I was sent his savefile it played fine even when I was signed into LIVE. anyone know what's going on or how to fix it?
Michlo Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Either of you using mods? You'll likely need to match those with one another.
tx3000 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 no mods as far as I knowMods are irrelevant You can still launch a game save that had mods active on it, if the mods aren't there then you will simply get a message saying this game save containes information that is no longer available..But it will still launch and the save can be played There are only 3 reasons causing the problem 1. Both of you are not using the same version of the game2. Your friend doesn't know exactly how to place the save inside the game properly3. You didn't include all the data with the game save If you send someone just the game save then it's probably not going to work, there is data attached to the game save that makes it function. So when you copy a game save to send to someone you copy the entire saves folder from this directory:C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Games\Fallout3 So make a back up of the entire Saves folder and then load up the game and delete any saves you don't want being used (I don't advise trying to manually delet them from the folder) then test it to make sure you have the save you want by loading up the game. Then once you do that then use whatever method you normally use for sending files. Hope this helped you out!
