Vampire Lord Attacked by NPCs?

So I recently got Dawnguard. I decided to go with the vampires, and after a while, when I reached what I think is stage 4 vampirism (100% weakness to fire, and I don't remember if I got Embrace of Shadows or not). At that point everything was still fine, but then after some more time the screen turned red and I got Embrace of Shadows (Perhaps again?), still with 100% weakness to fire. After that I went to Whiterun (tested with a couple of cities, results were the same, even after I tried player.paycrimegold) and then everyone started attacking me. I went to Castle Volkihar and fed, bringing me back to the lowest stage of vampirism, and nobody attacked me. Then I waited and the same process happened. I looked it up online, and I only found fixes for the vampires at the castle attacking you after The Bloodstone Chalice quest (That bug happened to me too, by the way. I fixed it by waiting 24 hours.)

Anyone has an idea of what to do?

Thanks in advance

This isn't perfect but it is all i could find searching for this.

Are you a vampire or a vampire lord?
also, are you using a custom race?

If reloading to an earlier save doesn't work, try committing a cheap crime like apple theft or old lady punching & paying the gold. according to many other people who have had the same problem, that will get them off your back.

If using a custom race:

It might be PlayerVampireQuestScript.pex that's spooking somehow, its a script that comes with customraces.esm
Haven't tried this myself though as of yet.
This solution does conflict with xxxSUMIxxx previous success with the Ashen race, but it might work for some.

Have tried it now, it works for me atleast.
What you need to do is to rename/remove/move the file PlayerVampireQuestScript.pex that resides in skyrim\Data\scripts
Not sure what kind of drawbacks this "fix" gives though

If you are a "traditional" vampire

First try feeding on a sleeping person (easily done when sneaking into farms at night), Vampire lords shouldn't be attacked even when they are a level 4 vampire but normal vampires get attacked.

Anyway, if that stops people from attacking you then i guess you are a traditional vampire, now you should look for a cure

Curing vampirism
Conventional method

-Ask any bartender about any rumors going around, and they direct the infected person to Falion in Morthal, who studies vampires. Traveling to Morthal while at Stage Four vampirism can be difficult, since hostile persons will attack the vampire on sight.
-Once there, he informs the vampire that a ritual can be performed to reverse the curse. A filled black soul gem is required first. The Black Star cannot be substituted for this gem. Falion offers to sell the vampire a Black Soul Gem, if they cannot acquire one through other means.
-Fill the Black Soul Gem by casting Soul Trap on a humanoid target.
-Meet Falion at the stone circle to cure the infection.
-Falion endlessly agrees to cure vampirism, so the quest can be completed multiple times if infected multiple times.

Lyncanthropy

-Becoming a Werewolf cures Vampirism. Aela the Huntress turns the Dragonborn into a werewolf during the Companions questline.

Console commands

-Another way of curing vampirism is via console commands; open the console and type, setstage 000EAFD5 10. By using the console command code showracemenu to change the Dragonborn's race, vampirism is immediately removed. This is also true of the changesex command.

If you are a Vampire lord (became a vampire from castle volkihar) then you shouldn't get attacked and i got no clue

Also take a look at this, maybe you can find something that i missed.

First of all, I'd like to thank you for taking the time and trying to help me, you gathered a lot of information and I appreciate that, so thanks.

Unfortunately, I'm a Vampire Lord, from Castle Volkihar and everything, so I guess my problem remains unsolved =P

Thanks again for trying to help though.

EDIT: I have noticed that the wiki says that Vampire Lords only have 50% weakness to fire and resistance to frost at stage 4, so could it be that after a while in stage 4 vampirism as a Vampire Lord I, for some reason, turn into a "traditional vampire"?

  • 9 months later...

i figured it out as i had this problem too it comes from when you got base vampirism BEFORE you bacame a vampire lord it forces you to keep partial base vampirism but it is only effecting certain holds (my experience was winterhold and its whole area) i fixed it with the setstage 000EAFD5 10

this command fixed it for me as all the effects that caused this went away though it did technically change me to a mortal i will see if i reset to lord vampire if it changes or not

Edit: it did fix it though the comments from people in castle volkihar change untill you transform again (im still checking the reaction of others)

Edit 2: yes it was base vampirism as i only noticed people hating me when i had the old vampiric drain now they never attack me unless i change infront of the or go near them in that form

Edit 3: Srry bout that threadromancy
