Hi Oblivion nerds.

IM having this strange issue that oblivion only launches on every 2nd try through obse.

When im launching it (either from the shortcut or obse loader) first time,a littlt black command prompt screen pops up with a blinking cursor ??? tried waiting for 5 minutes but nothing happens.

i know it dosnt seem so bad cause when im closing the window and try launching oblivion again IT works fine!! BUT !!! then my cpu goes nuts and my fans can be heard miles away Very very annoying.

even in this noisy state the game runs fine,And only because i got an insane laptop with a i7 3940xm processor and 2xnvidia gtx675 well i think

Does anyone know what causes this ??? And why wont it boot the first time am i running more than one instance of oblivion or what ????

Thanks in advance.

All the "obse_loader.exe" does is start Oblivion, locate its code in your system RAM, inject its code changes into this, and close. It's usually a matter of seconds and there's no OBSE loader left in running processes.

The command prompt window remaining open is a sign of OBSE being unable to start your game. Your game not coming up while the cursor is still blinking is another one.

Did it ever even once succeed in starting Oblivion through OBSE, or did you always have to start it through "Oblivion.exe" instead, thus without OBSE?

Where's your game installed at? Is it from Steam? At the default location, somewhere inside program files, being on an OS like Vista or Win 7 can prevent 3rd party tools like OBSE and mod managers from accessing files or starting other programs (Oblivion). That's why it's often advised to make them "run as administrator" in their preferences, but it doesn't 'always' succeed in overcoming the 'program files' blockage.

Going by the issues you described it'd be a bad idea to mess around with mods or 3rd party tools like script extenders, until you are 100% sure the game runs fine 'without' them first.

You talking of playing on a laptop, are you sure it's your 'cpu' that's going nuts and throttling up the fans? Isn't the graphics card cooled by the same system as well? Oblivion's very graphics heavy and doesn't exactly make good use of newer graphics cards. It will always last on the cpu quite a massive bit and isn't exactly the most optimized piece of software either. It can't make use of bigger amounts of RAM, doesn't know, or use, 64bit designs, and is quite heavy on the cpu all the time. However, it's also quite heavy on the 'gpu'. Thus I'm asking which one's heating up so much.

It'd be advisable to get the base game running without issues first, and if it's still throttling your fans to jet drive sound emittance immediately, then you can at least be sure that's the way it is, and it's not caused by any mods or 3rd party installments. Then you can go ahead and figure out why OBSE is unable to start Oblivion from where it's located and how to best fix it.

Thanks for the reply.

I can play crysis 2 on ultra high without hearing anything from my fans for about an hour, my cpu and graphic cards are less than 6 months old Strange strange.

Yes im playing it on win7 64 bit, The first 3 months i played oblivion it always started the 1st time and i discovered with task manager that some services from oblivion is still running when closing the command prompt but 2nd time it always work

and halleluja then my fans turns into an expensive hairdryer but the game dosnt lag???.

I just disassembled my laptop today and found no hardware failures at all, My fans are dust free and theres still plenty of cooling paste, I havent done anything to improve the graphic through mods (My nvidia control panel are handling the games graphics and performance) have around 50 mods installed but it shouldnt be the issue??? Dammmn this is weird.

tried uninstalling wrye bash and replace both the obse loader and shortcuts with new ones including same mods. Im running the game game without steam and outside the C:directory (E: is where im running it from)

Maybe i need a reinstall ?????

Thanks for taking your time with this totally weird issue.

I think your problem is that you have re-installed the game without running the vanilla ini from start up. Always run the original game from the CD to begin with, then save your game! The same with any changes you make to the ini file in the My Games folder. If you don't, the game engine will not identify with them and crash or fail to load under obse.
