making city problems.

I'm making a city the New Washington Republic, I've had a few snags, the buildings are mostly ok I've had a few problems with walls connecting to each other but I kinda fixed that but just plugging the holes in the wall with tires.....(:>) I've started to add npcs I even created a unique one a doctor, but even tho he is in the view window in the geck when I test the game he is not there. I've also added a bunch of guards and they also aren't there. I've added navmesh and as far as I can tell there are no errors, but they still won't show up in game. also my campoion npcs's when I enter the town to test it out they don't always follow me into the buildings and if I just walk around the town they tend to run away from where I am and leave the town... Now the navmesh for the exterior of the town is not complete yet but I think this is still odd behavior. I've also wanted to add turrets to a wall but when I tested them in game the exploded.

The other things I need to do is learn how to add new objects to the game, I have the meshes and textures all ready but I have yet to figure out how to add new items to the game. (I have in mind to add my own air force at lest as non flyable planes on a runway) I've tried to alter meshes in the game but I just get a red arrow in place of the mesh when I use the items menu in the Geck.

If you want to check out what I've down so far check out NWR

no I had to use the manual settings because of the odd angles I have the rooms at. I think the tires kinda fit the story idea tho concrete blocks or some other sorta vault item might be a better replacement as I suppose there arnt to many cars in most vaults. As far as to the Doctor I first made him by copying a norther npc doctor then I changed his looks and most of the speech responses and gave him a chest "merchant" chest I guess is what it might be called, and I changed his id and the Geck changed him to a new form.....So I would guess that he is separate from the original I copied him from. as to the guards (there the vault 101 guards, I just wanted to test them out before I customized them) other then dropping them in place I haven't done any real work on them yet. If you want to load up the file in the geck and go into the nwrclinic interer location and check out the doc and see if you can tell what he is missing.

Snap to object! Just use shift Q and select the object you want to snap to and it will align the grid to it.(I think, or just watch the latest G.E.C.K. tut vid on youtube or look at the wiki) That will set the orientation and position of the snaping grid to that piece so no matter how odd the angle it will line up.

As for your npc trouble I am pretty sure that you are having ai issues, since you copied the NPCs they still have the old ai packages and are wherever the NPC you copied is. So you need to create new ai for them (there are a few tutorials around like this one http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showto...amp;hl=packages )

BTW be careful with dialog its easy to cause problems with it, there are also some tutorials for that here like this one http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showto...sic+walkthrough they ramble on a bit then there is a tutorial in there somewhere.

Good luck
