DashRendar23
By semi-new I mean that I modded the crap out of Fallout 3 but haven't played around with mods since then (a few years ago for me). I recently got into modding NV and am having a little trouble installing Apex ENB. Using FOMM to activate it I get this error: "A problem occurred during install: Exception of type 'fomm.Transactions.RollbackException' was thrown.ChinhDo.Transactions.TxFileManager+TxEnlistment Fallied to roll back. Access to the path 'C:\Users\Owner\Documents\My games\FalloutNV\Fallout.ini is denied. The mod was not installed." I then took a look at the readme and followed the instructions to the best of my abilitiy but when I extract the folder into the NV folder like it says to, nothing changes in the game... Could someone please help me out?
CaesarsLegion
ENBs cannot be installed through the means of a mod manager. They have to be installed manually, since the files need to be moved into the fallout directory instead of the data folder, as most mods are installed. Drag and drop the ENB files into your Fallout directory; the folder with the FalloutNV.exe and NOT the data folder
DashRendar23
Thank you for the reply. When I extract the files from "Apex ENB Final-50110-V1-1.rar" I get a folder called "Apex enb" I move that folder into the Fallout directory like you said to do but nothing changes in game... What else do I have to do?
CaesarsLegion
You can't move the folder itself into the game directory. You have to drag the contents of it into game directory.
DashRendar23
Alright, so I've done that now but... I still don't see a change... I hate to ask this but what does Apex ENB actually do? From the screen shots I assume it makes everything much smoother graphically. Am I wrong?
CaesarsLegion
Nope, you're not. ENBs improve graphics by injecting the use of DX9 shaders, DOF, SSAO, Ambient Occlusion, and other visual enhancements. To check if its working, press Shift+Enter when in game. That should open the in-game ENB editor. If it doesn't open, then there's something wrong with your installation. Remember to turn off Anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, transparency multisampling, and water displacement in the game launcher, as these cannot work with ENBs
DashRendar23
Thank you for being so patient with me, CaesarsLegion. I really appreciate it. When I press Shift+Enter in game it does nothing. I did what you said about placing the files individually into the FalloutNV directory and have turned off everything you mentioned. Do you have any other ideas as to what might be wrong? CaesarsLegion
Did you download the d3d9.dll from the ENB developer website? If not, here's the link: http://www.enbdev.com/download_mod_falloutnv.htm Download version v0.161, open the wrapper version, extract ONLY the d3d9.ll and place it where you've placed the Apex ENB files. DashRendar23
Sweet Jesus, it worked! CaesarsLegion, you are the BEST! Thank you so much for sticking through this with me. I honestly wasn't expecting too much in the way of help since this game is a few years old now! Thanks again!
