Greensbr
The game crashes when I try to enter the main world. I've modified the .ini files like some suggested, I've loaded the game without any mods running, I've started new games to see if it would work. I deleted any G.E.C.K .ini files left over that would change the settings, and I re-installed the game. And it still crashes when I try to enter the main area. I need help. maYuYang
Wow, seems like you have a really persistant problem^^.I don't have Fallout 3 anymore(got so sick of it..), but I will try to help you. I read your previous post and have to admit that it was abit confusing. I will add all issues related to your case:1st: You ran Fallout 3 which worked until you saved your game. the next time you tried to reload your save game, the game didn't run anymore. You mentioned that you checked the GECK CS and installed several mods. Even a patch to v.1.015 might be possible, but you can't remember applying it yourself2nd: In the upper Post, you Mentioned that you did several things like reinstalling and deactivating mods, but whatever you do the game will crash once you enter the Capital Wasteland Worldspace. I will make several suggestions and I recommend you test them all exactly the way I explain it:-Start a new, clean game(deactivate all mods and remove the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file from your Fallout 3 Folder to the desktop, also make sure that you didn't tweak anything in the Fallout3.ini under My Documents\My Games\Fallout3). Play the tutorial the way you want until you're supposed to leave the vault. Save Regulary until then! Also save before going close to the door which leads to the Capital Wasteland Worldspace! Check if you can exit to the outside.-If it crashes, something with your Fallout 3 installation is wrong. What OS do you use? If it is Vista, you should really, really never install a game under Program Files. Something like "YOURHD:\Fallout 3" is much better, "YOURHD:\YOUR Games\Fallout 3" is also a good idea. So you probably can guess what I am up to: reinstall Fallout 3! No matter which OS you're using, login with Admin Permissions. Uninstall FO3 using the disk. After uninstallation is complete, delete both the Fallout 3 Folder under "YOURHD:\YOURDIR\" and the Fallout3 Folder under "My Documents\My Games". Make sure that both are deleted. Also, uninstall Windows Games for Windows LIVE(not sure about the name now) and .NET Framework 3.0. You need to restart you computer afterwards.-Now to the installation: Start it from the Disk like you normally would, but be sure to install it under another Directory like pointed out above. The Setup will also install the previously uninstalled .NET Framework 3.0 and Windows LIVE. Once the installation is finished, run the game. Do not install any mods, tools, patches or tweak the ini file! Start a new game and do the Tutorial. Again, do not forget to save regulary. Save before exiting the Vault and try to exit it(when I tried that the 1st tim, it usually crashed, but I could load my savegame and was then able to exit the vault). It should work now and if it does, save. Make several saves just to be sure^^.-If it doesn't run, try to update your driver for your GPU. You could also check for an update for .NET 3.0 with Windows update.-If it still doesn't run, something's probably wrong with your gamedisk OR you're Hardware is broken(or malfunctioning), contact the customer service, I'm sure they'll exchange the disc without extra cost. Alternatively, you could borrow the gamedisk from a friend and try to install it that way, but I wouldn't recommend it since afterall, if you want to play, you will need your disk which might cause crashes if it's broken. In the case of broken or not working hardware, you could try to install the game on another computer to see if it's working...
Greensbr
I reinstalled in the new directory and took out everything and it seems to be working, its still a buggy game though lol, and I've had one crash so far. I don't know if it will bug when I put the mods in again. (and maybe the saves too). I would also like to learn more about the G.E.C.K because modding looks cool, its just I may have messed up with the G.E.C.K, it seems that this tool directly alters your game o.o but yeah i'll check to see if I have any more problems when I can. (Oh and is there a link the the dirver that I need?)
maYuYang
You mean your video drivers? I do not know which GPU you're using, just ceck the manufacturer. I however suppose that you're Nvidia or ATI. About .NET 3.0, I'm not sure if it's really save to install another version since FO3 is working for you now. You could do it with Windows Update which is by default under Start->All Programs at the top. You can also right-click My Computer in your Start menu and select Properties. Then click onto the tab for automatic updates. But as I said, since FO3 is working again, updating anything might overthrough it thanks to the fact that FO3 isn't exactly a stable game... Greensbr
I think it was those G.E.C.K .ini files, and even after I deleted them the game still didn't work, so it begs the question; How do .ini files effect the game? They must have like changed the .esm master file or something when I started the game up with those files still in my "mygames/fallout3" folder. It could have been the archiveinvalidate.bsa file that was messed up, because I did re-installed (and found out my install was okay) But yeah, like I said, I would like to learn more about the G.E.C.K etc. I'm interested in modding (gotta start somewhere), but after this experience I won't even turn the G.E.C.K on, I'm a bit paranoid. I kind of just need to know "what is what" so when I'm changing something I'm not corrupting my game.
