PeniseBoyCat
WARNING: SKYRIM / A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE / GAME OF THRONES SPOILERS IN THIS THREAD! I love how much Skyrim resembles one of my favourite books series ever, A Song of Ice and Fire, and tv show, Game of Thrones. And with all that "Dragonborn" thing going on, I just couldn't resist. I had to play a Daenerys Targaryen, who happens to be one of my favorite characters in the books/series. Who would ever make a better Dragonborn? With this in mind, I wanted to share with you the build I made for her, and the way I've been roleplaying her since I started (she's level 34 by now) because I've had tons of fun with her, so this is a playthrough I highly recommend to any ASOIAF / GOT fans. Another warning, this is kind of a crossover between Skyrim and ASOIAF/GOT, so besides their similarities, some things aren't just going to match. Yes, I am aware there is a mod that makes Skyrim turn into Westeros. That's not what I wanted. I wanted Skyrim to be Skyrim, but with Daenerys Targeryen in it  I wanted to play an alternate Danerys in an alternate world, kind of, what if the story of ASOIAF developed in Nirn, with Elders Scrolls lore. To begin with, I tried to make her look somewhat similar to Emilia Clarke in the tv show, because she makes such an amazing Dany, but that's just my personal choice. You can shape her face whatever you like, just make sure she has silver hair and violet eyes (this mod is a must!). BUILD (just suggestions, ideas, I'm not telling perk by perk): I made her Breton. Because of their special power "Dragonskin" (seemed appropriate for the Blood of the Dragon), their looks seemed just fine to me (they are smaller than nords and have fairer skin than imperials), but specially because of their magic bonuses. I intended to make a mage Daenerys, since she doesn't really have any melee skills (all her combats are done by other people, but it would be really boring to just stand back, sit around and let companions do all the fights). So destruction mage, specializing in fire spells, made the most sense to me. Also, high speechcraft. Dany has proved to have a silver tongue. She's a smart girl, she has learned to negociate and persuade powerful people to do as she wants, sometimes even using deceit and lying if necessary. She also knows how to give good speeches that inflames the souls of their followers, and convince people to join her cause. So speechcraft is a necessity if you want to roleplay her, and you must use the "persuade/intimidate" options whenever they're available, so she'll become better at this. You can also save yourself some tedious small-questing to be able to advance in large quests, by being able to speak your way out of/ or into things. For this same reason, I also make her use illusion spells. The ability to mess with your enemie's minds and make them fear you, fight each other, forgive you, or to make your allies braver, bolder... Not a must, but an interesting complement to destruction magic. She MUST HAVE a very high, (ideally total) resistance to fire, since the Blood of the Dragon can't burn. You can achieve this by using enchanted items and potions. This is one of the reasons I decided investing in the enchanting skill, to make her a custom set of gear with the highest possible fire resistance. I also decided on developing the smithing skill, just for the sake of having dragonscale armor at some point of the game. But this is more of a personal choosing, not really necessary to roleplay Khaleesi. I played her as a light armored mage, because having to cast armor spells every time there is a battle just annoys me, and I really like the look of some of the light armor for her. For example, at low levels I made her wear hide armor, forsworn armor, fur armor; all of them looking wild enough for a Khaleesi of the Dothraki; further into the game she wore scaled armor, and now I'm making her wear this amazing custom armor with this retexture (the blue one), and it looks very much like the dress she has on season 3 of the tv show (yay!) Again, it was my choice, you don't really need smithing to roleplay Daenerys. What you will need, are companions. At least two. Dany is not one to go into danger alone, as she always has Ser Jorah Mormont by her side, her dothraki bloodriders Aggo, Jhogo and Rakharo, later on Ser Barristan Selmy, her freed Unsullied, and more. So if you want to roleplay her right, I would highly recommend to use this mod to be able to add more than one companion (up to 5, although I've found that having more than 2 or 3 makes things too easy and dungeons too crowded, but it's up to you). You should always have at least one melee fighter, the knight kind. Roleplaying style/quests Well, we know Dany is a good girl, strong and proud but with a kind and compassionate heart. So no evil quests for her, or evil choices within quests. If you get to a point where you can't continue on a quest without doing something evil (like murdering innocent people), just abandon the quest. Dany just won't do evil. BUT! she would likely kill the one that gave her the evil quest. And take vengeance on anyone that wrongs her. She's a justice bringer. She frees slaves and aids the weak, specially mistreated women. She would never harm innocent people, or people who you don't know whether they're good or bad. She will, however, crush mercilessly anyone that uses their power to inflict pain into others. So of course, no Dark Brotherhood, unless it's "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood", which I think she'll do. She would kill Grelond the Kind without remorse to free the children. She would most likely help Saadia instead of the Alik'r. And so on. No Thieves Guild. Dany is the proud true Queen of Westeros, Blood of the Dragon, Khaleesi of the Dothraki. Stealing is beneath her. So no stealing. Ever. She may loot the corpses of her enemies to pay for the stuff she needs. With her high speechcraft, however, she can sell her loot at very good prices and become rich soon enough. If anything, you can do a quest to Destroy the Thieves Guild, using this mod. College of Winterhold questline: Not a necessity, but there's no reason to not do it. Also, it's fun. I'll go with it. Main quest... I think there's no need to say it's imperative to do the main quest. She's Dragonborn after all, she needs to have all those cool dragon shouts and the dragon story is quite interesting. One tip though: she wouldn't side with the Blades when they ask her to kill... you know. Civil war? I think yes, Daenerys Targaryen would participate. After all, she wants to regain her place as Queen of Westeros, which in Skyrim would be Empress of Tamriel. All the Septim bloodline of emperors, which founded the Empire as we know it, were Dragonborn (how is Septim not like Targaryen? come on Bethesda people!), and she IS the last Dragonborn, so, the rightful Empress. For this I assume, since the game doesn't give you the option to make your own army and claim Skyrim first and then the Empire as your own, I think she would side with the imperials, because, well, it's her Empire after all. Also, the stormcloaks are too much like the Starks, with their "true nord" rebellion thing, and we know how Dany despises the Starks (the "Usurpers Dogs"). I picture the Thalmor like the Lannisters, controlling the Empire from the shadows. So after completing the Reunification of Skyrim quest (crushing nord rebellion) she would need to kick some serious Thalmor ass to regain her place. Sadly you can't do this in vanilla game, but luckily enough, there are mods that allow you to do it!: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33108http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33164http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33261http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33323 Dragonborn and Dawnguard DLC: Haven't played them yet, but I'm guessing a big yes to Dragonborn. I'm intending to play it soon enough. Use your own judgement when choosing quests and sides, if you remember to roleplay you won't make her appear OOC. Daedric quests: Only those who doesn't imply killing or doing harm to innocents. If that's the case, you can simply walk away or kill all daedric cultists. Either way works fine. Small side quests: Dany is a Queen, she's not anyone's courier or servant. She wouldn't do any "go get this, go deliver that" sort of quest. She would help anyone in need, specially if they are women. But absolutely no menial tasks for her. She has way more important things to do than to get someone 10 bear furs or deliver a note for someone. Other roleplay suggestions: Do the quest to be bloodkin of the orcs. In this game the orcs are not so different from the dothrakis. She won't be able to marry a chief, but she can be friends with them to be welcomed in their strongholds, and have some of them as followers. She can marry a chief's brother. That's all I can think for now. I hope this would be useful to anyone interested in playing as Daenerys. I look forward to discussion and other suggestions about how to make a better Khaleesi! I'll leave you with some pictures: http://i41.tinypic.com/34eywsl.pngHere, with her previous scaled armor, before the violet eyes mod. http://i44.tinypic.com/33uac5u.pngHer new look. http://i41.tinypic.com/1fk0ud.pngDany and her faithful mare, silver. http://i41.tinypic.com/bg3ld.pngIsn't it awsome to be a Khaleesi?I know you probably don't check this topic anymore, and I know I shouldn't quote the whole thing when I'm only replying to a single part of the post, but why would she help Saadia and not the A'likr? Saadia sold out her city yo an army of genocidal racists and the A'likr are bringing her to justice. If Daenerys is a good character, she would support the A'likr.
