Vendors Are Now Jacks of their Trade

I was sitting in class the other day, and I thought that it would be really cool and realistic to have the armories and blacksmith's in Oblivion to actually make armor and weapons.

They always have the stock in but I wondered if they actually make any of the stuff.

So i got to thinking, how could this work and not be game breaking? I figured that when you talk to a blacksmith, they would have a new choice on the bottom (Buy/Sell,Training, Repairing, and now, Smithing!). You would select the little cursor or a topic of conversation, "Smithing" and this would bring up a menu with available armors and weapons that the smith could make.

It would be vanilla armors and weapons of course, and would be maybe 5 or 10 levels above your's available. So, if you were level one, the availability would be Mithril or Dwarven and lower. The catch? The blacksmith will take "One day to gather supplies, and start the fitting to your specifications. One day to start the work. And one day to finish the work and/or brand it with my seal." The cost of the item would be about twice(?) the cost of it when it becomes normally available or if it is already available, then it would cost about 500 Septims more. The "seal" of the blacksmith is optional, and costs about 1000 Septims to add. All seals are enchantments and different from each other. For example, at the Slash N' Smash, the seal on an Armor adds +10 Strength for the extra push you might need in close quarters and on a weapon it adds +10 Damage. At the Dividing Line though, the Armor adds +10 Agility for mobility and maneuverability, and the weapon damages 50 fatigue.

It makes a clear difference between your favorite vendor and gives the game more of a timed out feeling. This isn't just for reason of adding the armor and weapons, but also making the game more personal between you and an armor vendor.

If you guys can't mod, please just respond and tell me whether or not you even like the idea. Another thought would be the Phintias can make you papers with certain specs on them and then Edgar Vautrine or Rindir could then make the papers into scrolls...?

Okay, we've laid out how we're going to do it and now all we have to do is start the scripting! XD

The other person on my mini team and I need to start our Oblivions running again, and we'll be all set. We're both new to this so I'll be posting up our "blueprints" in a couple hours if I can get some time free. If not, I'll have it up tmrw. Thanks guys! Keep the feed back coming! We want to know if this is a mod people will USE!!
