Baelkin
Errmm... select "interiors" in the World Space rolldown menu and doubleclick the interior that you want to open? http://www.forumspile.com/Blank-Picard_Facepalm.jpg
thegord
In his defense, the wiki tutorial makes absolutely no mention of how to actually load a cell into the render window - yet another piece of essential info for newbies to the GECK (or the Oblivion CS, or to modding in general) that Beth so thoughtfully deigned to mention, easy to figure out through trial and error though it may be - a practice that a lot of people taking their first steps with a complicated, unfamiliar program are understandably hesitant to get into... Skotte
I agree thegord, GECK & the CS's are not exactly user friendly pieces of software for those new to them.
jaysus
compared to other world editors like worldcraft or unrealed they are kinda easy

Honestly there is no excuse for that question. If you follow the tutorial it clearly says what to look for and where to open and even duplicate a world cell. The Cell View window can't even be closed without disabling it in the view menu, and interiors is selected by default. Now, I know it comes off a bit harsh, but when people come seeking help and making new threads, I'd kinda' expect them to have exhausted the majority of their other options first like, you know, reading through the GECK tutorial for instance. Even if you are following the tutorials and a cell doesn't load up when you click it once, then maybe doubleclicking is the way to go. I'm aware it makes me look like a tit spending time responding to a topic that annoys me, but it's such a basic aspect of using the GECK that you could find information on how to do, on your own, if you just spend a few minutes actually searching the GECK Wiki. thegord
Well, yes - searching for "cell" will bring up the Cell View window as a reuslt, which links to the CS wiki, which describes how to load cells; I'm simply pointing out that there's no mention of it in the tutorial, and honestly, I wouldn't expect to need to search for how to do basic functions like that. That's what the tutorials are supposed to be for - to acquaint you with the basic usage of the GECK. As well, a lot of the interior cells load "off to the side," with the actual architecture offscreen; if you were just starting out with the GECK, it's fairly easy to get confused when you load a cell and nothing (seemingly) happens beyond the render window turning whatever color the ambience for that cell is. "Maybe I'm doing this wrong, better ask on the forums..." Along those same lines, I'm sure a ton of people have been confused by the door tutorial (as I was) because the writing was completely botched; it tells you to set the interior door as its own reference. Really, my issue is just that the wiki is so badly written and that there are so many functions left unexplained. Given that, you've got to give the "dumb" questions a little leeway... tx3000
Are you asking how to get interiors to show up on the list or are you asking where exactly it is in the G.E.C.K.? You have to load the main .esm into the G.E.C.K. And if you did do that, then you don't have to go looking for it because it's the default window that the G.E.C.K. is set to load up upon opening the .esm
Riain
Whether this is a silly quest the GECK wiki is pretty scanty and there are some hole sin explination. If there is a problem with the wiki discription it is a wiki... so fix it. I think it is kind of weird that it appears that no one in cyberland seems to be contributing to the wiki. Why aren't stuff like the tutorials in this forum being added to it. More answers and explination means less silly questions and mre people being able to mod and produce cool toys for us to play with.

This is so not true. You can have as much information as you want, have it as clear cut as you want it, and most of the time people still won't read it.
