Riain
I realized that when I wrote that sentence. That is why I qualified it with less. lol Oh, I still know there will be a lot of silly question that have answers in the wiki or have been answered a thousand times. However, it would reduce both the amount of silly and less silly questions from those who actually use resources correctly. It is quiet frustrating when the wiki doesn't really tell you anything.
thegord
I find it odd that so many pages on the GECK wiki simply point to that article on the Oblivion CS wiki; what's the point? The articles should be copied over and any pertinent information on new features or functionalities in the GECK made mention of. With regards to editing the GECK wiki, I'm loath to do so because I don't want to spread false information; I'm still an utter newbie with the GECK and without knowing whether the way I do things is efficient or even correct, I'd rather not put the info out there. There are many, many people who know the CS (and by extension, the GECK) far more intimately than I, and I wonder often why they don't edit/add to the wiki... There just doesn't seem to be much community support or involvement with the GECK wiki period.
tx3000
If your new to the G.E.C.K. then i encourage you to watch my video turoials I have posted in the Fallout 3 moddding discussion section of this board. There just doesn't seem to be much community support or involvement with the GECK wiki period. Well said. I have totally deleted full sections of certain wiki's because there are some wikis that cover 3rd party programs that were written by the people who created teh programs and they tell you nothing of how to run the program and upon going to teh site and confronting them about it I get instantly banned and get retarded emails saying you shouldn't be at the site unless you know what your doing. But the dumb asses refuse to admit that the only way you can know is if they themselves tell you. and nothing in the real world works like that. I mean think of it like this: You get a brand new TV that has either no instructions or the instructions it comes with can only be understood by the people who created the TV So you call up the Customer service and you get told google it and you shouldn't be calling them with stupid questions, then you get hung up on. So because people who do this get realy realy stupid and refuse to take responsibility for their own programs and want to have everyone else do the work for instructions for them, I say screw it, if they refuse to tell me then i'm going to destroy the wiki. Yes I call it justification revenge and besides their WIKI wasn't explaining anything anyway so deleting it doesn't matter. Either way you have no information
thegord
Well, I'm new as far as this being my first experience with modding; I've been messing with the GECK for a couple weeks now and I'm learning pretty quickly. Matter of fact, I'm working on finishing my first public-consumption mod up right now. I'm working on figuring out how dialogues (and thus, quests) and scripting work, and then I'm done. The best dialogue tutorial I've been able to find thus far has been Elanthil01's on the Bethsoft BB here; that isn't saying much, as he doesn't bother actually explaining any of the variables possible. I'm currently working off that and FO3 Phalanx's follower tutorial and hoping to come up with something workable; last time I (briefly) tried to make a quick repair-dialogue quest, I got magically teleported to the Vault 101 entrance as soon as I loaded up a savegame to test. Hopefully the next try goes better, because I'm starting to get frustrated. Ah, the joys of learning. -- and really, it's not just the wiki; both this forum and the official Beth GECK forum are slower than molasses and many threads rarely even get replies before slipping off into page-8 obscurity. I'm a little surprised at this; modding for Oblivion used to be a pretty big thing, but the response to the GECK has been so underwhelming it's ridiculous.
