FClef
First of all I will post the technical information and then explain what is happening. First of all, I have already clean installed my video drivers from Nvidia and made certain that I have the latest drivers. I have also done a virus sweep as well as spyware/malware sweep and the system is clean. I have also done all the current Windows XP updates and made certain that my other drivers are current. I run two monitors of different size, however this has never presented a problem even for games like Crysis 2. In fact, it seems that only Oblivion is the only game where I am getting crashes consistantly. While I experience the rare game crash with other games, Oblivion is the only one that is giving me the BSOD. I cannot point to any one thing while playing Oblivion that I do that then results in a crash; it appears to be random. Sometimes it crashes to desktop and other times it crashes and I get the dreaded BSOD. I am only running one mod for Oblivion and the crashes were happening before I added it, so I doubt that the mod has anything to do with it. The mod I run is one for more lockpicks. I can furnish any information needed for that mod if it comes to it. I am fairly frustrated because when the game crashes it seems like the auto-saves that happen regularly by going in and out of areas are all wiped out... so that means that I have to do everything all over again. Any help would be appreciated. Edited to add: The copy of Oblivion I have is downloaded through Steam. Edited May 3, 2013 by FClef
discovery1
Firstly, disable auto saves, save on wait, save on travel, save on rest are all sources of corrupted saves and never overwrite a save.Unfortunately oblivion does not like use of multiple monitors, I know , I have tried it on 2 different cards, nvidia and ati. I have seen it work but there are not many gpu cards that will run well.I know that you only have one mod running, but try running the game with it disabled and see what hapens. My graphics card has never, ever missed a beat with any other game and my dual monitors even running more graphically intensive games than Oblivion, however I can disable my second monitor and see what happens. As far as the saved games go, the saves are not corrupted, they are simply not there if I BSOD or crash. I'll give this stuff a try and let you know. Thank you for your reply.
