Vunutus
I recently started my first OOO game with a paladin type class (primarily a fighter with some supportive magic thrown in). So far I've found that pretty much everything kills me. The only enemies I can consistently kill are random wild creatures and bandits. I've gotten to level 3 doing this, but it seems like there has to be a better way. I read the OOO FAQ and it said forts around the imperial city were good for low levels, so I went to try that out. I find one and step near the door, only to be greeted by an ogre who immediately destroys me. Various other ruins and such seem to be the same way. Another fort I tried had some vampire lord 20 feet in the door. I like the concept of OOO but it seems like it makes things a little too hard at low levels. Are there any tips that could help me out here?
AzirAphale001
Join the arena for easy experience early on. Although I don't use OOO so it might not work.
Vunutus
Arena is made harder in OOO so a level 1 with rusty iron gear can't become the grand champion of Tamriel. I already went as far in the arena as I could.
Beriadan
Try turning down the difficulty? That usually makes the game easier(:P). I don't use OOO so hopefully that helps.
ov3rwhelming
Well, it might sound kind of cruel, but that was the idea. You shouldn't be able to just go out and clear out an entire fort single handedly at level one. The only real "safe zones" are near the imperial city, and they aren't forts. They are more like the water's edge and avoiding caves and so forth in your roaming. Even still, you are likely to encounter a monster that will kill you, and in that case, taking off all your armor (to increase speed) and running in the opposite direction is recommended. Also, save often in the wild.
xachan86
yup, that's even why i like OOO (+MMM and Fran) so much : I have to watch every of my steps, I have to approach carefully a bandits camp to see how many they are before running wild on them, because there could be a bandit leader that would sweep me in a second. Much more time-consuming but far more realist and thus much better for me ! ;)
LoginToDownload
My big survival strategy is to have a companion that prefers melee combat. Of course, in my case, that just means keeping my Command spells updated.
bben46
Opt for speed, stock up on healing and speed potions. Don't pick fights. Run if you are outclassed or outnumbered. If they insist on following, run to the nearest city where the guards will join in on your side. Then hide in the temple. Save often.

maYuYang
it actually isn't that hard(except with TOTF enabled... Impossible on lvl1, lol. I forgot about that when I started a new game and didn't save before going to bed). You can do it on normal difficulty without cheating, you just need to train alot. Hunting also got me to level 4 quickly with modified level rates enabled. If you're scared leaving a city, you can steal a horse and ride where ever you need to go. Also, avoid any dungeons with ghosts in it, sneak as much as possible and if you see something with a light blue aura, get out. If you're using DR, be sure to strafe alot, do not run backwards. NPCs will be faster than you. And if you find some wild and small animals like wolves or wild boars, be sure to attack and kill them free kills basically. You can also check beaches regulary for mud crabs. If you find some which aren't bigger than you, you can kill them. They're easy prays if you use archery or magic. Even skeletons are simple, they usually are stupid, just be sure to not have a hostile archer in your back! And finally, but this one relies on your skills: Goblins are really easy to kill, they usually ask for it. If you see some patroling in the woods, investigate the area, there's usually a cave nearby. Get in and enjoy the slaughtery. You will even get good rewards and most goblins have potions and/or something to eat. But be aware of a wizard Goblin, you need to have the jump on him in order to successfully kill him without being fried.
