Canor Morum
Here's the text in case you had trouble reading the image... Oblivion excels in open-ended gameplay, story, setting, graphics and character customization. The fan community has further enhanced the game with a wealth of modifications and additions since it’s release. If you’ve only played the console version or never downloaded any mods this game is worth another look. These are just some of the literally thousands of user-created mods. These take the form of graphical updates, content expansions and even complete overhauls of the game mechanics. They can all be found on TESNexus.com. Unofficial Oblivion PatchFixes all the bugs that weren’t fixed in the official patches. BTmodImproved interface and HUD. Qarl’s Texture Pack IIIThis replaces nearly every texture in the game with higher resolution ones and stays true to the original feel of the game. If detail and eye candy are your thing, this is where it’s at. WARNING: Requires high-end system. Landscape LOD Texture ReplacmentFixes the “pea soup” look of textures seen from a distance by replacing the LOD textures with larger versions. Improved Trees and FloraMore detailed foliage. Female Eyecandy Body ReplacerThis replaces body models and textures making them smoother and more natural. There is a nude and underwear version. HG Eyecandy BodyImproves female bodies with more realistic proportions. Includes different cup sizes. A normal and “fighter” version that’s more muscular. Improved Facial TexturesThis makes the “aging” effect look much better and fixes some issues with faces.Ren’s Beauty PackAdds more realistic hair to the character creation options.Unique LandscapesThese modify the existing landscapes and makes them more scenic and interesting. Natural EnviromentsModifies sky, weather, water types, vegetation. Adds birds and insects.Better CitiesAdds structures and objects to cities to make them more elaborate and appear lived-in.Illumination WithinMakes windows glow with light from within. Looks really good at night. Oblivion CatsAdds roaming cats to the cities. Cheydinhal PetshopAdds pets that you can feed and that follow you around.Realistic Physics and ForceMakes “ragdoll models” behave more realistically when killed. Symphony of ViolenceReplaces the combat sounds with more realistic ones.Gorier BloodMore blood, gorier blood.Stealth OverhaulMore realistic stealth and guard AI. Backstab abilities.Deadly ReflexCombat improvements, adds “fatality” like (decapitation, sliced in half) death animations and mounted horse combat.Personality IdlesAdds character and NPC idle animations.Actors in ChargeAllows you to force animations on your character and NPCs.Basic InstinctAdds a spell that charms female NPCs to undress and pleasure themselves on a nearby bed.FCOM Convergence The ultimate mod. Combining Obscuro’s Oblivion Overhaul, Martigen’s Monster Mod, Oblivion WarCry, and Francesco’s Leveled Creatures-Items. Adds 1300 weapons, 1600 shields and armor, 1300 monsters, 2300 NPCS, crafting.Adjusts creature and NPC AI, leveling, and gameplay for a more balanced and challenging experience. I should add that Deadly Reflex requires OBSE and FCOM Convergence has a very lengthy and complicated install. There are detailed instructions on the FCOM site. Vagrant0
Kinda a limited list as far as the sorts of mods mentioned. It's either blood and violence, or graphic improvements. The list there is almost entirely the same list I saw posted somewhere else over a year ago. I would like to think that modding has turned out some other, more noteworthy mods in that time. Canor Morum
What facts? How about a link to the list that's supposed to be the same? How about some examples of what's missing? It's obviously not an attempt to be comprehensive and list every single mod in every category. The criticism was unfair and frankly not asked for in the first place. So who's being rude? I did suggest adding to the list and making it better. All of those mods may be "old" and familiar to you but for someone who is new and asking where to start it's a good introduction. You even recommended some of them in another thread. Your words...MMM is good, exnems female body replacer with HGEC add-on, Roberts male body IV. Midas if your a magician. natural landscapes is also very good Only Roberts Male and Midas are not included on the list and I think you mean Natural Environments and Unique Landscapes, both of which are on the list. Midas if your a magician. natural landscapes is also very good Only two of those are not included on the list.I object, I don't believe I have ever suggested MMM to anyone. I have actually spoken out against that mod since it tends to cause more problems with installations and conflicts than anything. One location, a fairly old article dating back to 2006http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/Feature/36919,...dblivion.aspx/1 Another location, a Youtube video from almost a year ago... shows many of the mods in that article Yeah, both are actually kinda longer lists. But that is beside the point. The point I was making is that most of the mods you have listed are centered around some specific interests, and are far from a reasonable cross section of modding. My point was that most of those mods are already fairly well known and recommended almost anywhere you look. My point is that while the article might appear to be unbiased, it is clear that you have strong personal feelings about what is in that list. Given your responses against any sort of commentary on the matter, I can only find myself wondering why you even bothered to post this here. And as you pointed out, the fact that you fail to mention some of the overhaul mods specifically, or midas magic, or lost spires, further establishes my point. To make it clear, my objection with that list is really that it has far too many mods which are based on graphic replacements, or violence, and not enough on any mods which contain any other content. It is my opinion that anyone who views that list, knowing nothing about mods, may get entirely the wrong idea of what modding is really about. What you have there is essentially the equivalent of an article about all the movies made in the year 2008, sure, you may say briefly that there were alot of things made that year, but you only actually mention the action or comedy movies. Canor Morum
Is it really a surprise that another list of recommended mods would have some of the same ones? I don't see in either of those links a "duplicate" list. Any attempt to compose a short list from thousands of mods is subject to opinion. How could you do it otherwise? My only "strong personal feelings" are when someone tries to disparage someone else's work who is merely attempting to help. That was the intention. I'm sorry your favorite mods were not included but again, if you would like to add to this list you are welcome to. By the way, the article was written in September of 2008. I don't see in either of those links a "duplicate" list. The list there is almost entirely the same list I saw posted somewhere else over a year ago.I was referring to that video, which did contain many of the mods you listed. I never said a duplicate. Admittedly, yes, some of the violence mods aren't featured in that list. Going to expect people to have a perfect memory of things they saw once, several months ago now? Any attempt to compose a short list from thousands of mods is subject to opinion. How could you do it otherwise?By having a suitable cross-section of several different types of mods... As I have already said several times. Why mention 5 different combat enhancements? Why mention 7 different environment or texture enhancements? Why mention 2 different animation packs, a mod which makes NPCs undress, and several mods which have not been changed or updated in over 2 years? That is the problem I have. There are certainly some quest mods you could have mentioned, there are certainly some more tasteful body/equipment mods you could have mentioned, there are companion mods, and there are mods like living economy, harvest containers, NPCs with jobs, which would help round out the list a bit better. My only "strong personal feelings" are when someone tries to disparage someone else's work who is merely attempting to help. That was the intention. I'm sorry your favorite mods were not included but again, if you would like to add to this list you are welcome to.I don't have any favorite mods, the number of public mods I actually use is actually quite small. My argument is not based on any disagreement of your list verses my list, but rather how your list is quite lacking in some areas. I am not disparaging their work for their effort or purpose, I am disagreeing with what particular aspects of modding they choose to highlight. The fact that their list seemed very similar to other lists was only a secondary comment.
