Nice2meetyou
I'm not sure if it's legal to port fallout 3 textures/meshes and whatnot to fallout nv, and please tell me if i'm not aloud to. I own both fallout nv wanderers edition and fallout 3 goty.Ok so i'd like to make a protectron have the construction helmet body from the pitt addon, and also i would like to have the snowy sentry bot body from anchorage on one of my sentry bots in fallout nv. I extracted the textures/meshes from fallout 3 pitt/anchorage using the bsa option, but i've no idea how to go about putting it on a sentrybot or any creature for that matter. I put the meshes for the snowy sentry bot into the meshes section of fallout nv and load the skeleton in the modellist but it has only the dirt texture and i'm at a loss at what to do at this point. (as a side note when you load the sentrybotgatling.nif along with the sentrybotlasergatling_outcast.nif together it turns the sentry white but does not show in the main game) So any help would be appreciated as to how i would get my sentry bot to have the white snowy texture and my protectron the construction body. Thanks Edited May 5, 2013 by Nice2meetyou
MaidenUSA
As far as the legality and the position of the Nexus on porting, Dark0ne has a section dedicated to it under the Forum Rules and Strikes threads on the Nexus Forums front page. It should answer most/all of your questions at least as they pertain to the Nexus.
Nice2meetyou
i'll look at that shortly, and if its legal i'll obviously continue in my endevour lol, and thanks for your answer :) though i've still no idea how to do the formentioned things :P
MaidenUSA
After you read Dark0ne's info, go forward to page 15 and read bben's post. It relates directly to what you're asking about.
Nice2meetyou
I've read through it, and bbens comment. though its left me confused :/. so am i only able to use assets that are already included in fallout nv geck, and not able to put any additional things from fallout 3? (also i obviously don't intend to upload anything ported)
senterpat
You own both games, your allowed to do whatever you want with them as long as its only used for personal use. Uploading them would be illegal, the assets anyways. I believe you'd be allowed to upload the ESP as long as you make players do all the extracting from their own fo3 bsas. (such as how the nv zeta crew works) Now, as for you issue. Have you opened the file in NIFSkope and checked the texture paths? It may be directed to your FO3 folders. Alternately you could just leave the textures in the FO3 folder and the mesh should still work out. Not 100% if that would work or not.
nivea
If the textures and meshes are in FNV then you can release it, if they are NOT in FNV then NO you may not hand them out. Some FO3 textures and meshes are in the FNV .bsa, so those are fine to make use of and release.
