zhangqetuo
So I've recently downloaded skyrim se on a brand new computer(I've played skyrim se on another laptop a few months before). When I boot the game up, it seems to be stuck in windowed bordered mod, there's no smoke or skyrim logo, and the mod manager option appears as '$mod manager'. I have browsed the internet for a solution to this issue. I've tried reinstalling 10 times over, I've completed deleted every semblance of skyrim on this computer, I've completely uninstalled vortex. I've uninstalled onedrive as well, as a forum mentioned that this issue appears when skyrim looks for the ini file in the wrong directory. However, the solution did not work out for me. I've also attempted to delete and replace the ini files, whether through verifying the files again or just replacing them with files from my other laptop.Considering the circumstances, I do believe the issue has something to do with my ini files, either they are in the wrong location, or perhaps something went wrong with skyrim's download itself? Maybe skyrim is still trying to look for the ini file in onedrive, which in that case how do I just completely reset my steam skyrim's paths? It would be helpful if anyone could provide some info on what they have in their skyrim files(both the one in steamapps and the one in documents/my games). If anyone has any other solutions that's not the typical 'turn your internet off' or 'update your drivers'(because I've tried every general solution), that would also be helpful. Many thanks. zhangqetuo
Well this is awkward. I've literally immediately solved it. So pretty much there was a onedrive folder left in my C drive, and when I deleted it, skyrim suddenly worked. Essentially, to ensure this issue does not come up when you're trying skyrim on another computer, ensure that there is no onedrive folder anywhere, at least one linked to the account of your previous computer.
