LE Need a simple color change, PS with DDS plugin not opening DDS files

Hi all. For some reason, whenever I try to open a DDS (I installed the NVidia plugin correctly), I get "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." All I want is a simple color change to the necromancer robe and hood to be all mid-to-bright red without a skull on it. Can anyone help me figure out why my PS isn't working or can someone make up a quick texture? Thanks!

Taking a guess that the dds files may have been BC7 compressed. Once I started seeing those, I couldn't open them with GIMP either, where I had previously had no problem whatsoever with GIMP. Give paint.net a try. It's free, handles BC7 compression, and opens pretty quickly. Still working on the learning curve, with selection tools and similar functions, though, as its UI is a bit different than both GIMP and Photoshop. A simple color change should be doable for you.

I looked at paint.net and it's just a for sale domain. ?

Ah, my apologies. The program is called paint.net, but the official site is getpaint.net, I don't know why. If you google paint.net instead of typing it in as a url, the official site should come up and (if you have browser security apps) you should get the "this site is safe" indicators from it. Definitely don't pay.
