Weird Face Bug on Elves

So I've been thinking about trying a new race now that I've transferred to Skyrim SE, but I'm having issues with the faces on elves.

As the picture should show, the elves have a weird clipping issue (which I have found out is due to Expressive Face Morphs and the High Poly Head) but on top of that the faces look almost like they are made of soft clay. I don't know what is causing this, whether it be a mod incompatibility, my mod load order, the fact that I'm using MO2, or something else. I hope someone can help me with this.

By soft clay, you don't mean the brow ridges, do you? If you happen to have installed the Ethereal Elven Overhaul mod, those are, afaik, a random appearance in some elves depending on subspecies, as I recall.

 

As to the coloration (which could also be what you're talking about), it *almost looks like you have two head meshes in action, close in size and shape, but not quite, and one is clipping through the other. Or maybe a bad texture?

I've confirmed what that under-mesh is from, what I'm struggling to identify is the outer mesh that looks like clay in terms of the shine and geometric sharpness. I don't have Ethereal Elven Overhaul, as those lists show, this is just looking at the default male Wood Elf, though it also affects the other elven races and the female variants to some extent.

I just tried turning off Pretty Face for Men, and that seemed to bring back the gritty texture that the under-mesh seemed to have, but there is still an annoying amount of angular shape to the face that doesn't seem to be vanilla.

 

Secondary note: Just tried turning off everything but Alternate Start and the Unofficial Patch, it's a Bethesda fail, cause they definitely didn't look like that in Skyrim LE.

So it seems that the game is trying to use the basic head model instead of the high poly one I downloaded, which has fixed most of my issues. I still have an issue with one preset I'm trying to use, but I will move that to the posts section under the preset's mod page.

The reason they look funky is because the skyrim engine is basically generating extra triangles that have no sculp data and adding them to the preset.

From which mod is the preset? It could be it is outdated and made in an older version of high poly.
