get english version of Operation Anchorage in Germany?

Hi, i have the uncensored US version of Fallout 3, but live in germany, so I can only download the localized, german version of Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage. So now what? how can i get the proper version of the add-on? Can i download the german version and then replace the esm-files by english esm files? or is there a way to buy the english one? It just sucks that you can't get everything here. Censorship is a crime! And bethesda supports it. I posted this in the official forums and they deleted it. :verymad:

There should be a store version so ppl like me can import it as they import the game itself. But this way, as always, pirates have the better version of the game. It's uncut, and they get the add-ons without anny issues (except no LIVE etc.)

But i want to buy it! How can it do that?

Hmmm. I think there's a program out there that sends all outgoing packets through a proxy. So you can use an American proxy to make it look like you're downloading from America. Though odds are that won't work since the file is big and public proxies suck.

I'd say buy the dlc in german and pirate the dlc in english but that doesn't stop it from being illegal. Guess you can call bethesda's tech support and constantly female dog for a couple months and hope they change the way the flawed system works.

hm i had a proxy program to use the internet sometimes, because german providers have to log ip and i don't want my ip to be logged. problem is, that i'm just getting a random ip with that. so with bad luck, ill get a russian ip and download the russian version of Operation: Anchorage :wallbash: or does the version i get depend on the version that is bound to my account? (buy US and login with german ip i still get german?) Or does it depend on the ip im downloading it with? (if i buy ing ermany, then download with Proxy (US) i get US version?)

I don't want to spoil my account and fear, that once i bought it, ill have to use the crappy german version forever!

I ran into the same problem. US/UK "basic" version of Fallout, yet I had to pay the DLC with something... my German credit card ;) IP says I'm in Germany too, so I got the German version of the DLC. It looks really weird, as all the other content is still in English, only DLC related stuff is in German (voices too). It just destroys a picture, this doesn't fit in. Sadly there's no option anywhere to change the language and I'm not used to the GECK as I thoight it might be possible to change something within the package itself.

All this after way more trouble getting and installing this thing than any "free" mod I tried to use ever caused.

I'd be interested in a working (preferably legal) solution to this too.

Unless Bethesda is not interested in another paying customer.

<Conspiracy>

Well... that WOULD make sense, seeing as that would indirectly add another black sheep to the already long blacklist, so they can put up even more invasive copy protections on their games, forcing us (=the PAYING customers) to install that as well, so they can reap more of our private data... It all makes sense now!

</Conspiracy>

What still amazes me is that we're actually so deprived of other entertainment that we still bear with all this BS they put us up with (and PAY for it, too!), instead of doing what would've been proper 500 years ago... pitchforks and torches.

I'd write your member of parliament and gradually lobby to get censorship of video games banned in your country under Article 9 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Of course, there are much simpler, less legal ways to get what you want... *cough* I guess it all depends on how in-depth you wanna get.

Let us not drift into a discussion of piracy, that will get this locked and other unpleasantness, keep that type of discussion off the forums as it is more suitable for a private form of communications..

Germany has probably the harshest "Youth Protection" laws on this planet, especially regarding video games. And with the nature of our politics, that ain't gonna change anytime soon.

It's stupid indeed on Bethesda's end to JUST offer the german version here. There MAY be people living in Germany that aren't actually german, you know, who might speak other languages (say, english) better than german... but nooo, let's force 'em to play the castrated and badly localized version of OA. Yep, no money from me Beth. And I'm sure I'm not the only one.

well, according to the pcgames.de forums, OA will be uncut, even when downloaded in germany if you ahve the uncut game), but I want the english version of the game.

Is it really ip dependent? So, if i log into live on a US or UK PC with my account using TeamViewer, for example, will i get the english version?

And what if i log into a US account here? maybe, it's english then. Problem is just, that it's afaik not possible to change the country in LIVE without creating a new account =(
