Savalric
This was an idea that I came up with a while ago. I think that visually, New Vegas was the best location in the game, due to it's relative intactness. I found it odd that no one ever bothered to clean up the buildings they lived in, or even mop/sweep. You see windows that have grime on them, to the point where you can't see outside (i'm guessing that was a technical decision rather than a visual one. So, I propose a solution: We rebuild the Mojave! I'm not exactly sure if it's currently being done or has been done already, but the idea is actually a lot simpler than it seems. It would require "cleaning" building textures (intact/inhabited ones that is) and making them look as though someone actually inhabits them. Vault 101 in Fallout 3 is a great example of what I mean. Now, in keeping with lore, I'm sure there is some paint/rust off somewhere in the Mojave. And I'm also positive that humans wouldn't want to live in filth for all of enternity. It only makes since that someone, somewhere went "Man, this place is filthy, let me get this vacuum on the shelves, this bucket in the corner, this mop and sponge and clean this place up". They have Abraxo! (Not sure what that is, but it doesn't sound edible). P.S. I actually had a funner idea: Bring New Vegas back a few centuries and try to rebuild what it used to look like by rebuilding the torn down buildings, repairing roads, adding grass (ooo aaahhh grass in New Vegas) and clear lakes. But I assume that would break the lore if you had someone living in a corrugated metal shack next to a deluxe family home. Speaking of which, who the hell is making all these corrugated metal sheets? There's no way they're just finding these things! I've gone my entire life without ever seeing a piece of corrugated metal sheets in person. Maybe once in a Muesum. scarecrowb24
yeah i think your right i have thought that same idea in my head numerous times it would be great but allot of people would probably argue that it is a game set after a nuclear war and that know one would really care about grub and mess but i think your on to something
bben46
It's been 200 years. Much of that time was spent just surviving, but when people settle, they tend to clean the place up some at least. Start with the strip - remove any wrecked vehicles - remove any piles of debris, clean the place up, The casinos should clean their facades & signs. Repair the road, put in functional street lighting. Then the main gate is a major disaster - fix it up and make it appealing. Put in a modernized clean new gatehouse with full lighting and signs. Clean the weeds & trash up. Rebuild the walls around the strip - replace those temporary looking corrugated tin & junk walls with a new concrete wall. There is a concrete plant just outside of town that could be put back in operation to furnish concrete, and lord knows there is enough rebar laying around to use for reinforcement. Then, the clean up should spread to Freeside - probably not as nice as the strip, but clean up the main road and open more buildings. Some of the side roads and alley ways can be left as is. I see no problem with the way Goodsprings looks though, it is a sleepy little village where the residents just don't care if there is a junk pickup in the yard. As for homes and businesses, people are supposed to live and work there - pick up the trash - put those tin cans and drink bottles in the trash cans that are all over the place. There are a few, such as one mod that cleans up Camp McCarren and changes it's appearance from a refugee camp to look more like an army post. Savalric
Right, It's not like I think you should completely get rid of torn down buildings, but I don't know a lot of people that'll live in squalor by choice. Everything has a tint of filth in that game, even your own room(s)! I think the BoS bunker has to be the most realistic location, just based on the amount of maintenance they put into the place. Some place aren't going to be doable, like the broken construction from across Camp McCarran.
Savalric
And the bunkers at Nellis Air force base are pretty good, even the warehouse/air bays are realistically clean based on what they're used for.
