freddiepellini
Good day, gents. I have run Fallout 3 just fine on my Windows 7 laptop for years. I use the Steam version, and have used very light mods. (Just 3rd person overhead) But yesterday I decided I wanted to try Jazzisparis' new mod, JIP Realistic Weapon Overheating. So I downloaded FOSE and the manual version of JIP RWO. I am an experienced modder, with my New Vegas with 100+ mods working in tandem, which works flawlessly by the way. I also created a few mods myself, so I know what I'm doing. Anyways, I install FOSE, and follow the instructions to install RWO. I launch FO3 with the FOSE launcher, and get rewarded with an immediate CTD. I was disappointed, but I settled for deleting the mod and going back to how I was. I launch FO3 again without it - CTD. I launch FO3 without FOSE and all mods completely uninstalled - CTD. I launch FO3 with a fresh reinstall - CTD. I deleted every single file, including all the .ini's, reinstall again, did the "bUsethreadedAI" procedure, downloaded d3d9.dll, ran in compatibility mode, adjusted my settings to every way possible, and launched FO3 - CTD!!! I don't understand at all it worked without a hitch less than 24 hours ago. Any help would be much appreciated.
freddiepellini
So I have figured out that when I disable Archive Invalidation, I can run the game. Unfortunately the new textures I just made for my game no longer work. This makes no sense. I had Fallout 3 running yesterday WITH Archive Invalidation enabled. Now I can't. What gives??? prensa
freddiepellini - Hello!Which version of archive invalidation are you using? If it's the built in one in FOMM/NMM then turn it off & try the stand alone ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated:http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/944/?tab=4&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D944%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D85706&pUp=1If you're using ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated already, try the built in one in FOMM/NMM instead.Just don't use both versions at once or it causes trouble.Check your .ini, the one you want to change is:For XP:My Documents\My Games\Fallout3\For Vista & Win7:Documents\My Games\Fallout3The file you want will be called:FALLOUT.iniOpen the .ini with Notepad & find this line:binvalidateolderfiles=Make sure it is not set to 0, if it is change it to 1 like this:binvalidateolderfiles=1If you do change it, remember to save the .ini.Hope this helps!Prensa
freddiepellini
I tried all the versions of archive invalidation I could find, and changed all the appropriate info in the .ini. I ended up solving the issue by manually deleting every file related to Fallout 3, then installing it to a different directory.
