[Merciless] Minigun bug

Imagine my surprise when I was able to equip the minigun (one of my SHIVs was being repaired) with my sniper:

 

 

 

I had to try it out, so I went into a mission but, alas, when I tried to move him the game sort of freezed (I couldn't do anything including aborting the mission but I could get out of the game). Luckily I wasn't playing Ironman this time. :smile:

 

 

 

Funny bug nevertheless. :smile:

I'm the person that created the SHIV loadout modlet, so I suppose I should reply. When I first created the modlet, I was going to allow SHIVs to also equip the Heavy-class weapons (LMG, Heavy Laser, Heavy Plasma). It's the same type of situation as you experienced. Everything is fine except when you try and move during a tactical mission. This appears to cause an animation glitch which effectively freezes the game.

 

After looking in more detail at the weapon meshes, it appears that the soldier weapons have extra attachments points for the hands which the SHIV weapons lack. It appears that the various SHIV vs soldier animations require those attachement points to be present or not.

 

That said, all of the SHIV weapons should be class-locked (should display "CLASS-LOCKED NONE") for any unit type that is not a tank.

 

I'm suspecting that Yzaxtol added the weapon property "eWP_Sniper" to the minigun (likely trying to give it a sniper-related perk or restriction)

Now that's a funny bug. Too bad, would be great to be able to carry a minigun.

 

 

That siad, I love this mod. The usefulness of weapons and the aircraft experience addition is great. But.... it's redicolously difficult.

 

I'm playing on easy and 1,5 months in, I only brought down 2 UFO's and am now facing landing ships and battleships. I just got lasers researched and my 2 fighters equiped the the machingun dont' stand a chance. Aircraft experience is not of much use if my aircraft can't get a kill (or survive for that matter)

 

I seriously need to tweak this mod, but first I'll have to look into how...It's been a while and this mod functions differently that Extended Warspace.

 

Mind telling me how to beef up the aircraft?
