Many background programs don't have a simple close. The arrogant programmer makes sure his baby can not be easily shut off or not be run on startup. Some examples are the ones that want a background scheduler to check for updates every so often (does a printer really have to check for updates EVERY time the computer is rebooted?) Another is the ones that sneak in a unwanted toolbar along with a download - even using the View>toolbars to turn them off does not really remove them from starting , running in the background, and calling home every so often (IMO this is malware and they should be prosecuted) Probably the worst offender is a company called Conduit that disguises their trash with various names, hides from the MS uninstaller, and installs a registry entry that brings it back if you do manage to remove it.

Here is a link to the one I use (autoruns by Microsoft) http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/microsoft_autoruns.html

Be careful what you do remove as it will allow you to remove nearly anything.

Any time a fullscreen program minimizes it is because another task has focused the desktop or opened an window. If this is happening when you don't see any web pages or background programs popping up then it could be signs of an advertising bot or other malware. It could also be that you've got a background service that is doing something it shouldn't and trying to access the desktop. It's also possible you have a faulty keyboard that's sending a key that's kicking you out of game but that's less likely as you would likely notice elsewhere if it was. Still, you can try another keyboard and see if that does anything.

I'd recommend running MalwareBytes on top of your own antivirus software scans. If that passes then make sure all programs are closed that you don't need. If you're not computer savvy and not comfortable playing with services then try something like Gamebooster from IObit.

Good luck.
