LGooms Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 When I first installed and played the game when it came out, I used the resolution 1280x800, which is a 16:10 aspect ratio. The native resolution of my monitor is 1680x1050, also a 16:10 resolution. Playing the game, it was full screen and ran just fine. After the 1.1 patch, however, all the 16:10 ratio resolutions in the option menu are listed as [letterbox], except for 1680x1050. Running at that high of a resolution would make my framerate horrendous. That the other 16:10 resolutions are displayed in letterbox makes no sense, because my monitor is already 16:10 and it should display fine. So since something in the patch screwed this up, until an official fix comes along is there anything anyone can think of as a workaround so I can play the game normally without the black bars? Using a 5:4 or 4:3 resolution isn't an option either since on my monitor it would be stretched to a crazy degree.

Go to MyDirectory\My Games\Fallout3 folder and look for the FalloutPrefs.iniChange iSize W=yourwidth and iSize H=yourheight See if that works.

I have tried it, it acts the same as if I had set it to that resolution in the options, ie. it still uses letterboxing.
