Natural Flesh Tones for High Elves and Dark Elves

I've been attempting to make this mod myself for some time, to no avail. I keep receiving strange errors when I thought it would be fairly straight forward.

Basically I wanted to replace the exotic blue/grey and yellow/orange flesh tones for Dark Elves and High Elves with more natural, earthy flesh tones.

For the Dark Elves, I had decided to use dark flesh shades like we see on human races. It was a simple but, I think, effective change which made the Dark Elves more natural looking.

As for the High Elves, I decided make them bright fleshed albinos with lighter shades of hair. I thought this would give them a simultaneously alien and "delicate" or "refined" look.

Here's one success I had in the case of Dark Elves:

The others, however, glitch horribly.

I'm making this request in the hopes that a superior modder than myself will find a way to avoid stumbling into the awful glitches that have stalled my attempt.

I know one way to do this.

Open the race you want to edit in the Creation Kit, say DarkElfRace.

Go to the Tinting tab and on the left will be a window titled Tint Layer, select SkinTone.dds.

This will load objects in the Presets window. Right click that window and choose New then find and add all the HumanSkinDarkSkin forms.

Then save. Test that out creating a new character in Skyrim. You should be able to choose among dark human skin tones when you create a Dark Elf.

You can easily create your own skin tones right in the Creation Kit by double clicking those preset forms to open a RGB editor or color selector.

I don't know much about making new NPCs or if this is capable of changing the look of all of the game's NPCs, it's been a while since I've messed around with these things in the Creation Kit, but I can at least point you in this direction.
