The Trouble with the stupid DLC

Okay someone else may have figured this out and if so I apologize but I wanted to rant, not search for someone who had already done so. hehe

I thought I'd found such a thread but it got closed because the author was socially challenged.

My rant :wallbash: is that the new DLC is apparently pointless, it's just a simulation. Right? This shouldn't be news to anyone because Bethesda describes it that way on their site.

So evidently you have to go into a computer and relive the glorious Battle for Alaska? Who the hell wants to play Tron?

The coolness of Fallout (to me at least) is exploring the world and having mutants and raiders try and kill me. Lol

I had hoped they were going to open up a new area, the Alaskan Wastelands, for exploration, not lock it into a game within the game.

Maybe some enterprising modder can unlock the material and use it to create an actual worthwhile expansion of the world.

Okay, through ranting. Thank you for your time. Go back to killing mutants and raiders. :thanks:

The terrain and environment content will prove very nice for an icy tundra mod (the frozen wastes of... Minnesota...). As for the mod itself, it's kinda just a mediocre FPS they stuck into the game for yucks. Kinda fun, but definitely not something you'd want to shell out actual money for.

Speaking of which, who actually *paid* for Operation Anchorage? I saw at least five torrents up within 24 hours of its release.

The only real problem I have with the DLC is that it requires Windows LIVE... (I haven't fully brought myself to the point of buying it, yet... but I expect I will, eventually.)

The problem with pirating Operation:Anchorage is that that would mean that I'd likely have to pirate ALL the subsequent DLC, and I don't want to do that, either. I enjoy FO3 too much to have to rip off everything for it... It's purely just "Dear, lord... why WinLIVE?"

Yes, it seems that PS3 users kept complaining so Bedthsa (SP) said "Ok, you dont get it, but in fairness, its going to be utterly rediculus for those who have PC. happy?"

And what sort of rubbish is that huh? "pay for this so you can pay for this so you can play it in this thing you already payed for"

Stupid, money sucking bastards.

Baiting us with the ol-stick-and-carrot. Either way, at the point where my current character is at, I can pretty much bring down Chinese soldiers with fists alone. And so it got boring. They should've just bundled the whole thing together into an expansion pack. But they probably know that one way or another people are going to buy it, since it's "additional content". Anyways, it just made my game buggier.

Bah. I pirated all of the Oblivion DLC. I might do the same here, if the opinions of competent gamers (Read:Normal forum folks, not review gurus on Fileplanet) flame it too much.

Piracy is no solution. It will only lead to the point where Game Developers won't create anything anymore for the PC.

@all:

Don't pirate, no matter how bad the circustances are. If you don't like the way to get something legally, don't buy it. If noone buys a specific product(think of SecuROM as example) the way it was published will be changed for next time.
