New video card, skyrim won't launch

I just recently upgraded my video card from a GTS 250 to a radeon 7770 (My friend has this card and an identical setup to mine and he can run skyrim at ultra just fine.) The resolution field is completely blank. (Skyrim worked fine before the upgrade) The error is: Failed to initialize renderer. Your display doesn't support the selected resolution. Please set a different resolution in Skyrim's Launcher under 'Display Settings'. I already tried manually setting the resolution, and playing in windowed mode didn't work either. Any input is needed, and would be appreciated.

Other games do work, just not skyrim

did you install and update your drivers? and do you and your friend have the same motherboard?

you may have to launch skyrim from the normal loader if you've been using a SKSE launcher

one guy with the same prob on game faqs says this about ini.s

Why does this work fine?:

bFull Screen=0
iSize H=640
iSize W=1024

But not this?:

bFull Screen=1
iSize H=640
iSize W=1024

some one suggests try running in windowed mode and full screen.

hmmmm. idk here that guy post tho

Seems to me your display is incapable of displaying the 1024x640 resolution at fullscreen, but it is capable of displaying it in windowed mode. bFullScreen=1 means fullscreen, 0 means windowed mode. Since Aspect Ratio doesn't matter in windowed mode, you can choose any resolution below the max. your display can support
