TalosStormcrown
Where do I begin? I've read that most major mod projects take more than one person to accomplish. I've played mods like Nehrim and SureAI's other projects, and they were very large, major projects. While I have not yet learned how to use the Creation Kit, I'd like to get a team together to develop an ambitious mod that would -start- with my basic idea for a mod and go from there. I don't want to seem bossy or seem like I'm begging for people to help me, but if someone does want to help me, or has some new ideas to add, then please, go right ahead and get involved. Here is the initial idea for the mod: It is a total conversion, meaning that while you need Skyrim and the DLC's to play it, this mod does not use your Skyrim character or take place in the Skyrim world map, it is like it's own separate game. It's gameplay is less open world, and less like an RPG, and more like a Metroidvania with survival horror aspects. It takes place on a hanging city/island known as Pendul (Pendulum). The city is within dark void, and is held up by a near-endless chain. It used to be known as Chandel (Chandelier), and was a beautiful place, in the heavens. But the city slowly degraded and fell apart, and the heavens faded, leaving nothing but the black void. Now Pendul is a prison, filled with horrific creatures, twisted denizens, and a few lingering sane beings hanging on to what ever resources they can. The city relied on the Oils, various substances that were precious but kept the city alive and beautiful. Along with the degeneration of the city, Oils have also become more scarce. There are various Oils, and here are some examples: Robust Oils restore vitality, and when one consumes refined Robust Oils, vitality is permanently increased. Vigorous Oils do the same with stamina. There are no spells, but some -devices- produce effects similar to what you'd expect from a staff, and is fueled by other special oil. The most rare oil of all is Crimson Oil, which is only procured from certain bosses, and can be used to acquire perk points for a limited set of perks in the game. When the player find Oils, they appear in vials or jars, in a way of assuming that the character automatically extracts the oils from containers or finds containers on enemies. The story: You don't know anything about how you arrived in Pendul, perhaps it has become some realm of hell now. The only thing that makes you special is that you seem to have harnessed some of the remaining Light from the heavens, and this allows you to more easily navigate the desolate, dark streets. After meeting some of the last sane denizens, you are tasked with restoring the stolen Crimson Oils of the Machine, the device that lies at the core of the city, keeping the city attached to the chain. The Machine needs the Oils to run again, before the chain breaks and the city falls into the abyss. As previously mentioned, the Crimson Oils can also be used to get perk points. This is where the hard choices come in, and the ending WILL be affected by how much Crimson Oil you still have by the time you gather it all back and get to the Machine. Weapons will consist of varying quality crossbows, melee weapons, poisons, and devices that harness elements in the same way staves do. There will be certain places where you can trade certain special oils to create/receive better weapons, armor, etc. The size of the city/landmass will probably be about 60-80% of the size of Dragonborn's Solstheim, but there will be a lot of gameplay going on in internal areas and buildings. I'd also like to put together some minimalistic soundtracks if possible. Anyway, this is the basic idea, let me know if you are interested or have ideas of your own. If you want to borrow ideas/premis for your own separate projects, ask me first
